Frustrated! I worked in Winston 19-20 school year and purchased a gift certificate for our holiday gift exchange to Acadia foods. I ended up with the gift certificate so someone else could have something they really wanted, because that's who I am. Pandemic hits, spring 2020, I went back to work in Greensboro (where I live) for 20-21 school year. About 3 weeks ago I called to see if they would still accept the gift certificate, was put on hold to speak to the ownee. Was told that they would need to see the certificate but with the circumstances they should be able to take it with no issue. Today I had opportunity to go pick up lunch. I explained to cashier my situation, she cashed me out with certificate but said she would need to check with owner. I said no problem, went to wait for food. Cashier (very friendly) went back into kitchen where I could hear conversation to be told no I could not use it. Quite rudely and with no allowances per the owners conversation with me. My issue is not that I had to pay for it but just the disrespect and lack of follow through on my conversation from a few weeks ago. Needless to say I will not return. I just wish people would follow through on their conversations and show an ounce of compassion or care. If she had simply come out and said, "hey, I was hoping it was this type of certificate so we could accept it but it's not"....then ok.... but to be so rude to her employee about it and where I could hear was unprofessional and...
Read moreI finally got to try this place out with my coworkers. I had added it to my list a few weeks back, and as a double bonus, one of our contractors treated us! We arrived around 1130am, there's a small parking lot, but we beat the lunch rush so that wasn't an issue. We ordered at the counter (I got a small hot mocha, the fried ribeye sandwich and a side of pasta salad, everyone else got a pastrami or reuben) and then picked a nearby table. It's nice that this place doubles as a small market/grocer, I perused the aisles while waiting for our lunch and of course ended up getting some extra goodies (chocolate chips and trail mix). Our food came out about in about 10 mins. Everything looked delicious- my ribeye was tasty, but definitely could have used a dipping sauce. It was a standard portion size, I actually could've finished it but ended up saving half for later anyway. The pasta salad was okay, could've used a bit more seasoning (salt, pepper, something), and I liked my mocha but think it could've been just a tad bit hotter. All in all though, this was a cute spot to stop at for lunch and I would definitely...
Read moreMy husband and I have been here at least once every weekend for the last month. They have some of the best sandwiches in town and you can tell they put thought into each one. The atmosphere is also very laid back and they have a patio you can eat out on as well. I’m vegan and their vegan tempeh, lettuce, and tomato sandwich and cauliflower melt sandwich are killer. My husband isn’t vegan and his favorites are the fried ribeye sandwich and fancy bologna sandwich. We’ve also gone for their brunch on Sundays which is also awesome. He loves the slappys chicken biscuit and chorizo sandwich (which is the size of his head). I’ve only had a bagel with tempeh and vegan cheese (which is made with lavender and honey’s local bagels) and it was pretty good but they have some other vegan options I’m wanting to try. They have mimosas and such for brunch but also coffee and specialty coffee drinks any other time of the week which are really good. We usually don’t spend more than $25 on an entire meal with sides which is one of the best parts. We highly recommend this place!! Winston needs a place with great food and...
