This is one of the two Japanese places near my home, and it did not disappoint. I had a decent meal; I got the shrimp and steak combination. It came with fried rice and sweet carrots. The portion size was fine. However, the other Japanese joint down the road gives me a bit bigger portion sizes, and I can usually squeeze two meals from one dinner combination. The inside is actually quite nice, with some seating and dated décor. I got my meal to go, and it was piping hot when I got there, and wrapped up nicely in a plastic bag. I was provided soy and duck sauce, even though I did not ask for it, as well as some napkins and a plastic fork. The gentleman behind the counter was pleasant and ensured that I got the correct order by going over my name, number, and order. I tried one of the house specials when I got my takeout; I got cheese steak spring rolls. I thought they were decent, I think they could have been filled a bit more, but the flavor was good, there was just not much in the roll itself, I can say this as one was pictured, but I got two, as I wanted to give it a real good try and see what they were all about. Like I said, the flavor was good, just a little underfilled for my taste. I had a decent experience here, but it was just okay.

This place has potential. However the male who takes your order did not acknowledge my and I. We had to repeat the order several times. He was too busy on his phone. This person needs to be written up or fired. They were not busy at all. The male who brought our food to us was awesome and made sure we had everything we needed. The food cost too much and the bad customer service just compounds the experience. Wont be back. Avoid until the customer service is improved at minimum. UPDATE: Owner responded to review. Means a lot.

Ordered the teriyaki chicken box and some spring rolls, the food was very good. The spring rolls have an almost floral flavor? It's hard to describe, very different but also delicious. If you don't mind splurging and trying something, I'd give this place a try. But order was teriyaki chicken (4 medium pieces), mixed veggies and rice. Enjoyed it very much and we were greeted and taken care of promptly. So no complaints on my end!

I had been hearing and reading a lot about what great food Kotta has and since we were in the mood for something new I brought my family here for dinner. First, I was surprised that I had to order at the counter. I was greeted nicely and the man was very friendly like most people in the area so I figured what the hell. I ordered the filet mignon and scallop combo which came with a salad or soup. The food came out on a PAPER plate! This terribly overrated dish was loaded with what they called fried rice, but was really just white rice covered in soy sauce with some corn kernels. They placed sliced carrots that tasted like they were boiled in simple syrup on the side, I assume to hide the poor presentation of the dish. Now, I cannot say the steak was bad because it was perfectly cooked and the 4 child-sized bites I was provided were outstanding. The five Mini-marshmallow sized scallops on the other hand were overcooked and lacked any flavor. I could get over the whole experience being more like a family visit to Wendy's if at least the food tasted like something or was at least close in price. 63 dollars for the crap two adults, two kids, and a toddler received? This place and these other reviews are a joke! That, or the unfortunate people that live in this state haven't had actually real good tasting cuisine outside of southern comfort food before. I've lived here 6 months now and haven't found one good Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, or Italian restaurant yet! Oh by the way this food exploded out of me about an hour after I got home so I wouldn't recommend anyone...

I too was anxious to try this restaurant and now that I have, I don't ever have to go back. I was first caught off guard by the prices which were the same as if I had gone to a grill where they fix it in front of you with all the tricks and courses but I was ordering at a counter. Yes the gentleman at the counter was very friendly. I had a hard time ordering because the prices were so high, once I ordered I was told it would be about 18 minutes, because the "the chicken was being cooked fresh (well I would hope so). It actually took 30 minutes. I ordered teriyaki chicken & shrimp with fries rice $12.99 but I got home and had plain rice and plain chicken &shrimp. I called & told the gentleman that my order was completely wrong. I was told to come back the next day for a free remake. The next day I did just that, called gave them my name, which they ask me for the previous night. A manager gets on the phone & says he's sorry they messed up but he cannot do free he can do 1/2 off. He stated that was too much money to give away... after assuring him that I was told free he said he would only do a single entree, not the combo that I initially purchased, I finally said OK. When I received the remake it was (as stated by another reviewer) white rice with soy sauce, and loads of it vegetables and a few sparce bits of chicken, looked more like a child's portion. Still don't know what made it teriyaki, the chicken was dry and had no flavor. Where's the teriyaki sauce? So Kotta on Reynolds rd gets a solid...
