Mr Lu's Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Winston-Salem

Though a few years ago Mr Lu's used to be great take out Chinese unfortunately our last 3 trips have been pretty bad from a quality perspective. We get the same usual Sweet and Sour chicken along with a Garlic Chicken. In the past, the food was healthy size chicken pieces battered and fried near perfectly. But over the last 3 visits, it's been pretty bad. Chicken pieces are very small with some of the fried breading containing NO chicken. Twice it was over cooked. Basically we gave it a few extra tries thinking they just had an off night but after the 3 rd time over a several month period with near identical poor quality we've had enough. Hopefully they fix it, get back to where they were, and then we can go back....but...

Mr. Lu's Chinese Restaurant (Takeout Edition) ROBINHOOD LOCATION. Please do not get this location mistakenly for Mr. Lu's on New Walkertown Road. This location is a hidden gem tucked away in a small shopping center but offers excellent flavor in their dishes. Let me say this is my FAVORITE place to go for HOT fresh Chinese food! It feels good to patronize a business that knows its repeat customers. I am always able to call in my order, and my food is ready upon arrival. We're new to W-S and have lived in several large "foodie" cities that boast about their Asian cuisine. Ordered from Mr. Lu's tonight with fingers crossed. Excellent!!! High quality chicken and shrimp - light tempura not overly breaded protein "bits" like some other Asian restaurants. Generous portions!! Beautifully prepared veggies - still crispy. The sauce was ample while still allowing the protein and veggies to be the rightful star! We were so pleased and honestly, surprised that this unassuming Chinese take-out kitchen was better than most of the high-priced, trendy, "reservations recommended" restaurants we have dined in over our many years.
