I never leave reviews but this felt necessary.
During my one-hour lunch break, I was in desperate need of a coffee. Wanting to avoid a corporate chain, I searched for a local coffee shop—supporting small businesses is something I try to do whenever I can. I ordered an Americano with macadamia milk, and it turned out to be an absolutely delicious cup of coffee.
Since I had time to spare, I decided to stay. The shop had a cozy upstairs loft with a large bookshelf packed with books, which I thought was a really neat touch. I settled into a comfy chair in the corner next to the bookshelf, got out my laptop, and prepared to relax.
Then I glanced at the books—and was deeply disappointed.
Having different political beliefs is one thing. But proudly displaying books that promote division, discrimination, and hate? That’s something else entirely. What struck me even more was that this collection was tucked away upstairs, a place I imagine many customers don’t even venture to—almost as if the owners knew but didn’t care who saw it.
I immediately packed up and left. Had I known then what I know now, I never would have spent a dime here.
Healthy debate and differences of opinion are necessary. But supporting messages that fuel division and injustice? That’s where I draw the line.
To offset the $6.20 I spent here, I’ll be donating double...
Read moreOh my goodness, I almost didn't want to write a post to share it because I want it to be my little secret, but they deserve to be shared.
It was my first time going and the owner came up to me and started sharing about her coffee shop. The syrups they use are clean ingredients, the coffee is locally (air) roasted, the baked goods (although not many) are freshly made each morning. The coffee was delicious!! I tried a peppermint white mocha for my first one and super plus: the whipped cream is made by them! They have milk alternatives and vegan friendly. They also have decaf coffee brew & a non coffee energy alternative!
I will admit, at first I was a little hesitant because I wasn't sure if this was a coffee shop for the church next door but it's totally independent and open to all!
Love this place!...
Read moreI have been frequenting coffee shops in Winston for the last 5 years now and decided that no one makes a good dirty chai latte like a place that's an hour away...I was willing to drive an hour away just for good chai. No more though, no more!!! The search is over...I visited Our Coffee Shop today for the first time and I loved everything about it! As soon as I walked in I was acknowledged, the space is very spacious and cozy, the cookie that I tried was right on the money for the perfect amount of sweetness (it's made fresh every morning). And guess what, the best dirty chai latte I have had, even better than the one an hour away!
Frequent flyer here! I...
