My gal pal and I frequently goto Ovation, in the same plaza as Social on Cypress, and when we found out about this place, we figured we’d give it a try.
Now normally, I wouldn’t even bother to leave a review, since it’s OBVIOUSLY going to be a bad one…. But I think people need to know what to expect when eating here.
We met here, to have a glass of wine together, and have a late lunch. Our server was very pleasant and accommodating. That was the only thing that was good about our experience at this place.
The food was bland and unimpressive. The toasted bread of my sandwich was obviously stale before it was toasted, as it was too hard in several places to even sink a tooth into. I was brought bread, toasted even lighter than the original pieces, and still had the exact same issue. (Anyone that’s ever toasted stale bread knows what I mean when I say it was too hard to eat.)
The rest of the meal wasn’t entirely unpleasant, it was just tasteless, as if they hadn’t added any seasoning or anything to enhance the flavors. We both only ate 1/2 of our meals ( I had a pork belly sandwich, she had the tostadas), and boxed the rest to go.
We left approximately 15 minutes after boxing up the food. She only had 4 blocks to go, to reach home, I had to go halfway across town. I was barely halfway home when I suddenly felt nauseated and pulled over at a racetrack gas station. I headed straight into the bathroom and got violently ill. (vomiting) I immediately threw what remained of my food into the trash receptacle at racetrack. I then called my friend to check on her, knowing how I had just reacted to the food. She confirmed my suspicions by informing me that she had also barely made it home, and into her bathroom, before having a similar issue, but from the other end of her body.
The only thing her and I had in common from the entire day, was consuming food at Social on Cypress. So it only makes sense that it had to be the food we ate that made us sick.
Since neither her nor I were impressed to begin with, by the food or the price we both paid for the food and with getting ill….. needless to say, we will definitely NOT be patrons of this establishment again. Had I not gotten violently ill, I just might have given the place another try at impressing us. But since our parting gift from Social on Cypress was nothing short of being physically catastrophic… we won’t be back. Nor will we ever recommend this place to anyone. I wouldn’t want them getting sick to be on my conscience.
I really wish I had better things to say about this place, as I honestly hate leaving bad reviews. But I feel like it’s my duty as a local patron to be honest and inform others of something that might cause them harm or food poisoning.
As I said, the server was great, but the rest was just too far from...

Social on Cypress is not your typical restaurant! This is a small plates, tapas style place where you can grab a drink and kick back with your friends and family for a nice meal. What I really like about this place is that you can order three different ways, at the bar with a person, at their self serve kiosk or at your table with a QR code from your phone. With the phone method, you are able to use Apple Pay which is so convenient!
There is a great selection of beer on tap as well as a great selection of menu items to choose from. As for the food, wow, the Birria Grilled Cheese is where it’s at! I did order mine without the pickled onion because I despise onions and Fernando came out and basically said I need to try it and put some on the side, I ended up loving them so keep the onions on it! I appreciate when a restaurant owner knows what’s good and wants the customer to try something they aren’t usually fond of so thank you! I also ordered the Elote Dip and I’m still drooling over it! Elote is one of my favorite things to eat so this really hit the spot with its ooey gooey creamy deliciousness!
Although this place looks like it could be a good date night spot, it is family friendly and they have a kids menu which I really appreciate! My daughter ordered the chicken strips and potato barrels and absolutely loved them!
It’s clear that everything at Social on Cypress is made for convenience and making your visit easy and fun! I love the self-serve options which includes the fountain drinks, condiments, to-go boxes and more! Head over there and experience it for yourself! You won’t be...

My family and I went to Social on Cypress on November 9th and left me thoroughly impressed and eager to return. From the moment we stepped in, it was clear that this place prides itself on exceptional service and quality.
The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service team made us feel right at home. Each interaction was genuine, attentive, and tailored to make our experience unforgettable. Kudos to the staff for their outstanding hospitality!
Now, let’s talk about the food. We started with the pork wings—an absolute must-try. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, they were tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Every bite was better than the last, and it was easily the highlight of the meal. Our pork tamales and cheesy loco burrito was delicious and full of flavor. The Mexican beans have a bite, but a GOOD bite!
On top of all that, the owner went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied, taking time to engage with us and make sure everything was to our liking. His personal touch made the experience feel even more special.
Social on Cypress is an absolute gem, perfect for anyone looking for top-notch food, attentive service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend it—especially...
