We were looking for a fun side adventure while staying in nearby Davis. We are so thankful someone at a store in Woodland gave us this recommendation. We drove about twenty minutes through beautiful farm land criss crossing our way across back roads that were absolutely picturesque. It got even better when we crossed over the bridge leading into Winters. This quaint little town was as charming as it gets. The very first thing you see when entering Winters is a little gas station and the Preserve. It makes a great first impression and only gets better after you walk in. We got a very friendly greeting while waited a very short time for a table on the patio outside. Service was super friendly, prompt and professional. There was a great wine list with varieties from local vineyards. The food was fresh, beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. It has a centrally located full bar and tons of seating for very large and small parties. The decor was so cool and consistent with farming surrounding areas. The were succulent planters made from truck hubs, pretty industrial but so visually appealing. Everywhere you turned there was something really creative and cool to look at. This was a side trip I'd highly recommend and will do again for sure. Give it a thought, you won't be disappointed. Be sure to take a stroll after you eat. There is so much natural beauty and history within a few hundred feet. The railroad bridge holds a particular place in...
Read moreWhat an awesome little town! The Preserve was an unplanned stop my Father & I made because we were passing through & hungry! We found it through our Navigation searching for Restaurants along our route, double checked the rating on Yelp, and decided to stop in. I'm so glad we did! We're already planning when we can come back with the rest of the Family. It's worth the 1.5 hour drive each way from our home town. Not only was the food excellent but so was the ambiance & the service! Our Server Destiny did a great job offering up some non-alcoholic beverages when we mentioned that we were observing Lent. She also let us know that many of their dishes could have the bacon left out if necessary! We ordered a couple homemade Ginger Beers and studied the extensive Cocktail, Beer & Wine list for a few minutes before ordering Dinner. We ended up choosing the Beet Salad, (I wish I would have taken a photo) the Charcuterie, Mac n' Cheese, and finally the Shrimp & Grits! I consider myself a "Foodie" and was super stoked with everything we ordered! I highly recommend eating here if you're in town! P.S. I wish I wasn't on Lent because so many of the Meat dishes sounded fantastic as well....TRY IT!!! I promise you'll be...
Read morevery nice atmosphere, very professional staff. We may have been there on a rare "off" night but it was disappointing. We had a 6pm reservation but waited 20 min to be seated. Our party ordered risotto with scallops. That dish was just ok. Also the organic fried chicken which was described as fantastic. Also ordered was the heritage pork chop. It did not look at all like the pictures posted in other reviews. I expected something great for a $39 pork chop. The chop had grill marks but was not browned at all. It was gray. It was tough and tasteless, barely warm. It was served over a dollop of braised cabbage that was cold, served on a cold plate. From the good reviews, I did not expect such a fail. The other thing that bothered me had to do with the 3rd party reservation method.
