I was finally able to stop in on a Friday, to try their AYCE (All You Can Eat) Pollock battered Fish Fry for $13.99. I had never had pollock before, so I was especially curious about this. They also offer other fish choices on their menu. For a $1.99 upcharge, I ordered the sweet potato fries. It also came with soup or salad, of which I had a delicious cup of chicken dumpling soup. My fish platter arrived, with 4 of the largest butterfly filets I've ever seen; coleslaw and hot corn on the side. Everything was hot & fresh. I was only able to eat 1 piece of fish & some fries, but was able to get a box to take it home. It was all very delicious!
Eating pollock, compared to cod, takes some getting use to, because it's less white, bordering grey/beige. Normally, when I see that color, it means the fish is undercooked. But, I looked closely, and it was cooked, and flaked easily, with no fishy taste. For me, I probably wouldn't reorder this because I shouldn't have to look that closely at my food, nor have to "decide" if it's fully cooked or not. This is on me, not the restaurant. I'm just sharing this in case you also have doubts. I ate the leftovers over the course of 2 days, each time microwaving & removing any doubt as to the cook.
As for the restaurant, staff, atmosphere, food, portions, and prices, I'm very impressed. It wasn't my first visit,...
Read moreFor me, this is the best family style comfort food. It really feels like you're stepping into a Grandma's dining room. Informal seating, cash only ($30 will cover you +1 and tip easy). Homemade stuff you likely grew up eating, but don't want or can't make yourself. I love the variety of breakfast plates, and when it's time for real comfort, you can ask for the special of the day and a plate of REAL food shows up with flavor, pleasant textures, and a smile. I've been here a few times and always been happy to bring someone with me, and we always leave full and happy. This is a place where regulars are known by name, and easy conversion flows. I've made a point to visit other smaller restaurants in the area including Grace's (veggie omlet came out undercooked), Misty's Menu(okay, but farther away and higher prices), and Olympic (no flavor to the pancakes like eating a flour Frisbee) and others outside of town. This place is a true family restaurant, and you can taste...
Read moreThis place had good prices but this was the worst food I have had from a small restaurant. Me and my aunt were sick after we ate here. I ordered steak and eggs with fries. My aunt got chicken fried steak. I asked for medium well but go WELL WELL DONE. Driest steak I have ever had. Her chicken fried steak was cold and slimy. We asked for scammbled eggs and got super dried out fried eggs. There sauce was super gross. BBQ sauce had cinnamon in it. Super gross. Rance tasted like French ranch which is the cheapest grosses ranch. Service was pretty good but I think the owner was sitting behind me and kept elbowing my chair. Cramped space for eating. All and all a horrible place to eat. People are clearly paid to write...
