First time visiting this sushi resturant I had high hopes because its one of the only sushi resturants in wisconsin rapids. Unfortunately, I ordered a drink and the glass came dirty with a pure lip stick stain on it. I asked for a new one and after a long wait, they brought me back a clean glass...I was not going to judge so I proceeded to order edamame for an appetizer. The edamame came out completely cold!!!!!!! Although I was very turned off by my experience thus far, I decided to order an entree and got the shrimp tempura sushi. The sushi tasted good and I thought maybe everyone was just having an off day. About two months later, I decided to give this resturant a second chance! The man at the front who I'm assuming is a manager or owner ...was very nice and seated me right away, unfortunately after I put my order in the the edamame was very cold yet again...it seemed to be microwaved and felt like it sat out for a while after being heated to be served. At this point I was loosing hope because it felt like a repeat of my last experience. Not to be picky but I was only given one napkin and chopsticks that broke... which is fine... but I was never offered anything else. Next I ordered my entree... I was sitting directly in front of the bar/cooking station where the main orders were coming out... I quickly realized how long orders would sit without any attention. I saw an order that sat on the counter for over 15 miniutes... God..I was truly hoping it was not mine ...unfortunately my gut was right and my server proceeded to bring me the tray of sushi that was sitting there all that time... it was cold. I truly believe the sushi could be very appatizing but the communication is totally off. The chef would ring the bell several times to signal the food was finished and no one would appear to the main dining room to serve... where only a few tables were seated. The waitress who helped me was very nice but it is extremely unappetizing that it always comes out cold and late. The man preparing the sushi seems to be on his game and very quick...so I think having more service might be beneficial for them and the customers. Very disappointing overall because I feel like this place could rock it if they food was delivered on time. I tried twice, but the third time will not be a charm,...
Read moreThe environment of the restaurant was very calming and the waitress we had was very nice. If this is your first time trying Japanese style food and get this waitress she is very informed and excellent at her job. The food we ordered was two different types of sushi. The first was the Vegas roll and the second was the special which was the harvest roll. The Vegas roll a 6 piece sushi was deep fried with crab meat, cream cheese, sweet potato, and spicy tuna. I typically don’t like deep fried rolls but this one was fantastic. The harvest roll was a 10 piece roll with tempura soft shell crab, kanpyo, cheddar cheese in the center. The outside was topped with salmon and spicy tuna. Drizzled with eel sauce, kewpie mayo, and sriracha chili sauce. Lastly it was topped with tobiko green onion and sesame seeds. This roll was mildly spicy because of the Siracha but overall was a decent roll and I would recommend at least trying this roll once. The appetizer I ordered was a spicy crab Rangoon which I found interesting because it went a tad beyond the regular crab Rangoon with sweet sauce. I personally didn’t like it but I applaud the effort to bring something new to an otherwise basic appetizer. The last thing I got was their Nabeyaki Udon which out of all the food I sampled from Hokkaido was my favorite. Excellent presentation and good taste. I mainly gave this restaurant a five star for the service. Although not completely authentic to Japanese standards it is still a good restaurant that you won’t...
Read moreWe had greater expectations. It might have been an off night and our waitress told us “we have a new cook that’s training”, but it was not a good experience. The soup didn’t have much flavor. The Sushi was ok. The potstickers were the best part of the meal, although not pan fried enough for my husband’s liking.
We each ordered Hibachi, me-chicken, him- shrimp. Both were over cooked. The chicken tasted old and was really dried out to the point we couldn’t eat it. His shrimp was also very over cooked.
The waitress was pleasant. When she saw we didn’t eat the food, she asked if we wanted to-go but we told her no and that it was so dried out. She apologized and said there was a new cook and she’d give us the employee discount. My meal was $13.99. The discount was $2.79. I don’t know that she even told anyone else about the mistake. My husband’s was $18.99. For overcooked shrimp. Our entire bill was over $50, plus the tip; and we ordered with the hope to take food to go for the next day. It was a great disappointment.
The sushi was ok - came out relatively fast. The salad that came with the meal was ok, my husband said the dressing was interesting- almost a gel consistency.
Not sure we’d ever give this place another try. It also was not “clean” feeling. So, our recommendation is try at your own risk. Maybe the “new cook” will be more experienced...
