Mad River Creamery & Deli — Restaurant in Wolcott

We went for the first time yesterday we have been wanting to try so I was excited to go but First of all the manager or whoever she was that was working was so rude to the poor young cashier who was so sweet to me and second the food was gross my husband got the crispy which was not crispy at all it was mushy gross buffalo chicken salad and I got a crispy buffalo chicken wrap both gross we don’t recommend either items. I was waiting for my food and i realized I didn’t ask for some extra blue cheese on the side so I went up and asked the nice young girl if I could buy an extra blue cheese for my salad she said sure hold on I just need to ask because I’m not sure how to ring it up I said ok no problem. She then gave me a packet and the salad the manager got so mad at her and came over and said I had to give it back she snatched it from me all because my whole order wasn’t ready she got mad at the girl for giving it to me. Great spot for lunch with real homemade ice cream in Wolcott. Located next to the Mad River with picnic tables and umbrellas to enjoy your meal and ice cream outside if you wish. Not that large a place for eating inside, but the menu has breakfast, lunch and dinner choices. Prices are reasonable and the portions are large. The owner is super friendly. Place is very clean with bathrooms inside. Handicap friendly with large, ramped entrance as well.

Milk from Cromwell is the basis for the ice cream. Great selection of flavors and the prices are reasonable compared to many of places that make their own ice cream. We tried the Salted Caramel Truffle, the Cool cookie mint and soft serve chocolate. YUMMO!

Came here on Mother’s Day to have a nice casual meal. I have never experienced such rude service! First for a split second I thought the guy working was talking to me when he said something was ready (didn’t know people behind me were waiting) I quickly realized it wasn’t mine so I simply sat back down. Very rudely he said he wasn’t a magician I just got there. Then I asked for cups with lids and a straw for my kids and they didn’t give me any (even with having kids meals on the menu) my mom saw some coffee cups with lids so my mom grabbed 2 to pour the drink in that we BOUGHT there and the same guy was rude and yelled “what are you doing with those cups?!” THEN when our food was ready instead of bringing it to our table like EVERY OTHER TABLE.
