Carlito’s — Restaurant in Woodbury

First time we went here place was very good. Visit today not acceptable. My meal was very good but my wife's not so much. Ordered six ounce filet mignon. Was told no more 6 ounce only 10. No biggie. Wife asked for Medium cooked. This thing comes out like a hockey puck. Literally you couldn't even eat it. I like my meat well done and I wouldn't have even tried it. We asked to send back for new one and it apparently was the last one. Was asked if we would eat it for half price or have a New York strip instead. She decided the New York was fine. Asked to have it cooked same way it comes out with the middle raw. At this point my wife ate around the sides alittle and it wasn't even worth trying to send back since I was already done eating. At no point does this review reflect the service we received. The waitress was very good. I was expecting due to the chef not being able to cook meat at least the drinks would be on the house. What we got was paid filet price and not New York strip price. So we saved about 4 dollars. Still even charged for the potato they charge you for if you want it with your meal. We probably will not be back. Also charging for a baked potato for a dinner meal is just a little ridiculous. Since I can’t reply to your response to my review your not even addressing the issue. The place is a dump!!!

The place wasn’t as bad when we first started going there, but it started to slowly go down hill lately.

I was just there for a pick up order….

When placing the order they needed two people because the first employee couldn’t understand English.

Then I drive all the way down there, and these fools still got the order wrong.

So I just took the one thing they got right as I am looking at my bill I see a $6.00 Miscellaneous cost.

I questioned this, and they said it was for the vodka sauce for the chicken parm grinder.

I asked why didn’t anyone advise us of this, they said they did which I know they didn’t, because I was sitting next to my wife as she placed the order, and then acted as if I was in the wrong when called out for this.

This was not the first time we had an issue, and I told my wife stop ordering from this place, but today I told her find another place, because I am not going back to that dump again!!!

Those employees should have stepped up and did what was right instead they argued with me.

Maybe the owner should advise these fools that it’s because of repeat customers like my wife and I that they have a job in the first place.

Oh and the grinder was disgusting.

We have eaten here several times now and consistently have a great experience. It's a comfortable restaurant with an open kitchen and great bar area, the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and the service is great. Most importantly, the food is consistently excellent and the portions are generous. They also have a very good range of wines to compliment their menu.

Nothing telegraphs a message about the quality of the restaurant more than the bread they serve. Carlitos warm rolls, which are light and delicious , are a clear indication that you're in for a treat. Carlito's boast a large menu filled with classics ranging homemade pasta to all the Italian standards served with their own unique twist. There is typically a great list of specials as well to choose from which we normally do. This last week we tried their fried polenta balls which were filled with meat or cheese and were absolutely delicious.

You;'ll probably need to wrap half your meal so you can save room for their deserts which include gelato and a wide range of cakes. Two of our favorites are their lava cake and of course their tiramisu.

I would not hesitate to recommend Carlito's to any friends visiting the Woodbury area. The food quality is consistently great and we have only had good experiences whenever we...
