3 strikes and you are out. Vistied Dottie's this morning at 11:00 a.m. with a friend and we walked in and saw that four booths were empty and we asked if we could sit. The diner was not very busy. One of the waitresses behind the counter asked us "Is all of your party here?" We responded that we are waiting for another friend. She told us we could not sit down. Then we said, we are going to stay either way, can we just sit. She said No, you will have to wait in the waiting area. So we walked over to the empty counter and found two stools. The same waitress said "I am sorry, you cannot sit here..you have to wait in the waiting area. So, we got up and moved to the front of the store and at that time our friend walked in. We then walked in together and we were seated. Had it been my decision I would have WALKED right out the door. I have never been treated so rudely in my life in a diner. I stayed because my friend chose Dottie's even though it is my last choice for breakfast dining in Woodbury. West Egg and New Morning Market are far better, tastier, friendlier and healthier options than Dottie's. I did not want to upset my friend so I stayed and begrugingly ordered a mediocre dried out tasteless omelet with very few ingredients in it. Coffee here is institutional and watery and I will not drink it. Their famous multi-grain tasted stale. So, strike one was over the summer when I took an out of state friend in for donuts for her son. My friend who is very friendly, upbeat and happy was talkative and inquistive about the donuts. The woman behind the counter was not smiling, did not greet us and acted as if she were doing us an enormous favor by waiting on us and putting a few donuts in a bag. When we left the store, my friend told me I hope the donuts are better than her lousy attitude. She is not a happy person. Strike Two was a day that I went in with my son for donuts and we waited and waited and when the girl finally came over she stared at us, actually glared at us, would not talk or say hello and I asked her are there still donuts and she said no and then walked away. Three strikes and you are out, Dottie's . You are rude, unfriendly and glaringly unprofessional. I am sure your kitchen is dirty too because your food is an abomination. I will support every other restaurant in town but you. I will spread the news that you are the rudest place I have been to in...
Read moreAfter going there for multiple years, 1 star is too much for the treatment I received. Walked in alone (38 weeks pregnant) around 11:15 and requested to sit at a booth. I was led to a sign on the wall that said a booth for 2+ people. There was no line with couple of booths open and people getting up. The rude waitress who always gets our orders wrong and never smiles graced me with the same rudeness. So I walked over to Dottie to request sitting at a booth, shared I'm very pregnant and just want to be comfortable. The rude waitress walks over and talks in the middle of the convo with "we could have a rush in 10 minutes" . Hmm how long does it take for a single person to eat? You already wasted 10 minutes showing zero courtesy. To my surprise, Dottie said "I've been pregnant too" WOW! If you've been pregnant before than you'd at least have some compassion to a fellow female, who by the way has given you business for so many years. Not a single "thank you" for giving them business for years. And when I said I wont be coming back or my family, I was told "Ok" - not even an apology. The LGBTQ community is getting denied service at restaurants across the nation, and now I suppose single pregnant diners also fall in that bucket, all for simply requesting to be comfortable during an obvious low traffic time. Talk about delivering "customer service" for a business that runs on having repeat customers and providing "service". Leo's will get 100% of our business and so will others who ask us about recommendations. PS, Dottie - you might consider bringing back your old staff that smiled more vs the current staff. Let's see how long this review stays up since bad reviews keep...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer of Dottie's Diner for many years, and it is with great disappointment that I write this review. Recently, I visited the restaurant with my family, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. However, what I encountered left me thoroughly appalled.
Upon entering the diner, I was taken aback by political propaganda that expressed a negative sentiment toward the President of the United States. (F the president, to be exact) Regardless of one's political beliefs, a family-owned establishment should maintain a neutral and inclusive environment, especially considering that Dottie's Diner prides itself on being family-friendly.
The blatant display of such divisive material not only ruined our dining experience but also raised concerns about the restaurant's overall atmosphere. Witnessing a business prioritizing political statements over providing a welcoming space for all customers is disheartening.
As a result of this experience, my family and I have decided that we will not be returning to Dottie's Diner. Regrettably, a place we once held in high regard has allowed politics to overshadow its commitment to customer satisfaction.
I hope that management at Dottie's Diner considers this feedback and reevaluates their approach to maintaining an inclusive and enjoyable dining environment for...
