Gu's Noodle House — Restaurant in Woodbury

Decided to have a spontaneous date night with my boyfriend since I’ve been wanting to come here since opening day and it did not disappoint. A lovely layout with warm wood furniture and perfect feng shui, amazing service, and the food was magnificent. We had a hard time even narrowing down what we wanted to try because everything sounded delicious. We ended up getting the house special noodle soup, the beef black garlic soup, and the house special noodle stir fry with appetizers of fried mini buns, the cucumber with garlic sauce spicy, karrage chicken and scallion pancake. All the prices are extremely fair for the serving size and quality and everything came out hot and fresh. All of that plus taro milk tea and hot tea was under $100 including tip! Everything was soooo good and if you want more spice they have chili oil at every table. We definitely ordered more than our actual stomachs could take but I already know the leftovers are gonna hit just as much as it did the first time.

This area was sorely lacking in authentic Asian food options so this was an oasis for me. We will definitely be coming back and this will likely become a staple date...

When I drove by Gu’s, I saw a huge line going in. This initially piqued my curiosity into trying. The next day for lunch, I stopped in to give it a try and I immediately saw two things that I liked. I love how you can see into the kitchen. I could see how everybody was working hard and constantly getting things done. The atmosphere was wonderful. The whole place was clean; top to bottom. All of the decorations inside were very nice, too. I ordered the cucumbers in garlic sauce (I believe that’s what it was.) And they were delicious. I also ordered the spring rolls, and they came with the duck sauce, which were also very good. For my meal, I ordered the Chicken Katsu Noodle Soup. The soup was just okay, if it was a little saltier, it’d be perfect. However, the actual Katsu itself was crispy and delicious. The service was wonderful and all of the people there looked very nice and happy to serve us. They also gave us 10% off of our meal because they just opened, which was very thoughtful. We ordered online for pickup and the food was fabulous. The peach and mango slushies were amazing and we LOVED the pork buns. We also ordered and enjoyed the pork dumplings, scallion pancake, and house special meatball noodle soup. I was less impressed by the house special meatball rice.

The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that when ordering, I was given a 15 minute estimate. I arrived after 25 minutes and the food wasn't ready. I totally understood because they were very busy and overwhelmed. But I just kept being told "your food will be ready soon!" Finally after 1 hour since ordering, it was ready.

Again I still wasn't too upset because it's a new spot and they are still figuring things out. They apologized for the wait and I said, "no problem, I get it, but maybe just update the estimates to not say 15 mins," and in response I was given a speech about why that's too difficult. In customer service industries, expectations and transparency are so important, so they need to either figure this out or not offer online ordering.
