A basic lunch menu including hamburgers, cheeseburgers, Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches, Meatball sandwiches and other basic items.
I chose the meatball sandwich. The meatball had good quality meat and the spices came through. The sauce was rich and tasty and in just the right quantity to complement the meatball but not make a mess. What really made the sandwich special was the ricotta cheese... .something you rarely find on meatball sandwiches in this area. The bread was soft and fresh and absorbed the sauce and cheese making for an enjoyable and easy to eat lunch.
The building decor has a simple and vintage feel to it. Lots of natural light along with the white paint gave it a much larger feel than it actually is. There were several outdoor seating options in a grassy park-like setting.
The men's room was large and extremely clean.
All of these demonstrate the level of love and care that's gone into opening this new restaurant.
I have eaten at other restaurants previously operated by owner/chef Marco Lacagnina. So my expectations were high and I wasn't disappointed. He puts as much attention and detail into an $8 meatball sandwich as others put into preparation of a $20 steak. His grew up in an Italian family in NYC where evening meals were an event in a typical household and his love of cooking and attention to detail are definitely evident in his new Centreville Luncheonette. I'm going to be a regular customer for sure... it's worth the drive from...
ย ย ย Read moreI was on a contract job in Weaverville and decided to check out this neighborhood dive based on the reviews. I'm so glad I did. From the moment I stepped up the counter to place my order to the moment I left, I felt truly welcomed. I can tell this family thrives on providing great food at great prices to its very happy customer base. I was torn between the cheeseburger and meatball Parmigiano so they helped me choose. I always love taking the advice of the people who work in restaurants on the daily because they know what's up ๐ While I'm not a general fan of shredded lettuce on burgers (I just prefer a solid piece of iceberg), it was cooked perfectly and the handcut fries were spot on. The sweet tea was fresh, place was clean, and everyone was super friendly. I'll definitely be back to try that meatball sandwich! I hear it's pretty amazing too! Thanks for a great experience and for continuing the art of stellar customer service. In a world where unfortunately it's becoming a lost art, I appreciate that you go out of your way to...
ย ย ย Read moreWhat a nice discovery on the backroads. This out of the way luncheonette has a small menu, serving mostly sandwiches, burgers and salads but the quality is much larger than the menu. Simple foods made the old-fashioned way.
I had the hot dogs and my wife had the Philly Cheesesteak. Hot dogs are simple right? Throw a boiled tube of meat on a soggy bun and serve? Not here. Even these are made special by caramelization of the wiener and the buns were toasted to perfection. My wife's cheese steak had ample, multi-colored bell peppers and was gooey in all the right ways. One single order of tots was enough to share and those tots were crispy and fresh.
The owner and staff are very friendly and this restaurant gives the down home, everybody is family type vibe. The exterior of the place looks a bit old and worn, but the heart inside is friendly and warm. This place is well...
