Wow. Previously had given ST a five star; however, tonight's experience shot a big hole in my opinion.
Absolutely, walk out if it's crowded.
Imagine you've been seated waited over a half hour for any sign of your food and the sole server walks out of the kitchen with two bowls of soup heading in your direction so you're unwrapping your silverware, then she heads to the table where the couple with a 10 year old boy sits after having arrived and ordered a good 15 minutes after you and she sets the bowls down in front of them.
You know those are your soups especially as you hear the wife say, "We ordered chicken for him and mine was vegetable." Since the sweet and overwhelmed server hardly understands English, she leaves the soups and walks away. Then the couple start eating your soups. The wife stops, displeased because it wasn't her soup, the husband continues to suck the shrimp out of the tails of our medium spiced shrimp tom yum.
So we're watching this, I'm getting hangrier (angry+hungry) and then the wife catches the eye of the server, waves her over and says, "I can't eat this, it was suppose to be vegetables with coconut milk."
I couldn't take it any longer and said, "Of course, because she gave you our soup." Finally, it clicked for the server, but I wasn't about to wait any longer and probably get whatever uneaten portion re-warmed and eventually reappear in a fresh bowl along with a second serving since the husband had vacuumed up his bowl. Obviously going to be his new favorite.
After all that we walked out as we have seen others do in the past. Very sad and disappointing.
It wasn't fair to expect one server to handle the entire restaurant on Valentine's. She was trying, I'll give her that.
Not sure that we'll go back and if we do, it would only be for take out.
Not sure how to remove picture from previous visit. We were served...
Read moreThe worst food and personal service in a restaurant in years. We were seated and had to wipe off our seat which was full of food from the previous guest. So already it’s not good and then we ordered asking specifically about not getting peppers in my dish as I have issues/allergies to bell peppers. I was told no problem. My partner ordered spicy pad Thai. The drunken noodles came out with peppers. Not wanting to complain I started to pick then off my plate. The server came over and scolded me not to put peppers on the table, took my partners napkin she was using and removed the peppers from the table. He asked if I wanted a new dish I sheepishly said ,” Yes,please, worried after I just got scolded” In the meantime my partner was trying to even figure out why the Pad Thai tasted like rubber chicken spaghetti noodles with only chili oil as flavor. She stopped eating it. It was inedible. My “new” dish came out in 2 minutes literally. (Same dish but peppers removed which matters none because they were cooked in). No other help from the server was given even though a full plate of food sat there uneaten. We then asked if it was normally like this? He said ,Yes and I’m only the server. Ok,we weren’t asking you to cook. He said he would bring the manager. She never. came to our table. She looked over and then sat with a table full of regulars and ignored any problem. So we paid and left. We got food elsewhere in town as Asheville has wonderful food and service but you won’t find that here. We have eaten here before years ago and it was good. It is not the same. I rarely/never write reviews but the poor service combined with the food quality warrants a public review. We tried to rectify it there and then but the owner chose not to. So here we are….the...
Read moreJust had a pretty bad experience here just picking up a take out order. I walked in and they kept trying to ask me if I wanted to place an order and I was trying to explain I already called in. Then they just point me towards a table by the front door and say your food is there. So I go to pick up the food and start carrying it away and then realize it doesn’t look right so I turn back around and another lady comes out from the kitchen and tells me that I’m holding someone else’s food and mine isn’t ready yet. So already off to a bad start having me pick up another customers food which isn’t sanitary in my opinion. Then I go back out to my car to wait until I see them bring another bag of food out to the table. So I walk in to grab the food, I ask for a receipt which seemed to really rub them in the wrong way. Then I go out to my car get in and am sending a quick text message when the lady that snapped at me that I was holding the wrong food comes barging out of the restaurant at my car. She literally has me roll down my window and asks for my bag of food back. I confusedly hand it back to her and with her bare hands she starts digging through the bag of food, pulls one of the big styrofoam takeout containers out of it, apologizes and takes the container back into the restaurant. To me it was extremely unprofessional. If they had forgotten our food and come to give us what we forgot that would have been a different story. But they took something back from us and went to take it to another customer. Which is so unsanitary and makes me very...
