We order an antipasta salad, buddy bread and a 8 piece deep dish 1-topping pizza. When our waitress brought our salad, she didn't bring plates or silverware. After waiting about 10min in an uncrowded restaurant, I sought out my own plates, but had to hunt down a bus boy (who was extremely helpful & polite) to get us silverware. As we started to eat our salad, the waitress brought out our buddy bread (that had NO cheese or butter) and told us our pizza was also ready. We asked if it could stay under the warmer for a few, since we just started our salad (d/t no plates or utensils). When she brought our pizza, my husband & I looked at it in shock! I questioned if they had the order wrong and brought us a thin crust pizza. She took it back and said they could re-make it and that the manager would be out to speak to us. About 15 min later, the manager brings the SAME PIZZA and tries to explain that he had to make an emergency batch of dough and it didn't have a chance to rise. It was 630pm on a Sat night, how does a pizza place run out of dough during prime time on a weekend? I would understand if it was 8-9p on a weeknight, but not when there was a total of 25 in the restaurant @ 6-7p on a Saturday night. That is just poor management! The manager did comp our meal, but we ate an antipasta salad that had 3 slices of ham (Yes, I counted, because I couldn't find any at 1st), buddy bread that was just plain cooked dough, and cold pizza. I am a 3rd generation Buddy's fan and I have never encountered anything like this. I grew up at the original Buddy's on Conant and would watch them play Buddy's Bocce ball. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! I still can't believe the manager was ok serving us COLD pizza that had been sitting...
Read moreWorst Buddy’s experience I’ve ever had. Went lunch for 2, the restaurant wasn’t busy, 4 tables total (8 people). Took 5 mins for waitress to come to the table, she took our drink order, left came back 5 mins later empty handed & asked what size beer I wanted..I had order a bottle. We received our drinks 10 minutes later. Asked what other soup they had besides minestrone, she didn’t know. NBD, we placed our order: Md. Antipasto salad, Buddy Bread basket and 1 Minestrone soup and asked for everything to be brought at the same time b/c we had an appt. She leaves, 5 minutes go by, she comes back to inform us that they also have Beef Barley & asked us what kind of pizza we ordered…we didn’t & tell her no thx on the BB just the minestrone. 15 minutes pass & out comes the soup by itself. I then ask if the rest will be coming soon and kindly remind her that we had an appt to catch. She asks again what kind of pizza did we order, I tell her again that we didn’t order a pizza. 10 mins later the salad and bread comes out. We also asked for 2 additional house vinaigrettes & she brings out the wrong dressing, ugh! Before she walks away we ask for the bill. Finally, ready to eat, I dish out the salad but the lettuce was yellow, wilted & had 3 salad cores. I couldn’t eat it, fiancé was hungry, so he powered thru also by now we had very little time to ask for another especially how long it took to begin with. So I went for the buddy bread with high hopes it was as good as the last time I had it in Dbrn. NOPE, it was undercooked, doughy & had very little anything on it. So disappointed. Buddy’s use to hold themselves to a higher standard, not today. Definitely won’t be back to this location. Do...
Read moreI went to this place last night with my boyfriend and I can honestly say we were very disappointed. We came in at 9:30 and they closed at 11. The food itself was bland and we felt very rushed the whole time. We were asked what our drinks were when the menus were place in front of us and less than 2 minutes later were being asked what we wanted. After we had ordered our food, we were not once offered refills on drinks until right as our bill was being taken. Which brings another issue. As soon as my boyfriend was finished eating the waitress, Nikki, was asking me if I wanted a box to go. I said alright because I didnt want to deal with feeling rushed anymore. Nikki brought the bill over and immediately started clearing plates without asking, including a plate of Buddy bread sticks that I was going to take with me. She was gone before I could say anything. She came back immediately to the table and we had barely even glanced at the bill before she was trying to take it asking if it was ready. When it was ready, she asked if my boyfriend wanted another water but ignored my empty glass of soda. She directed all conversations towards him and never really acknowledged me. She was pushy and rushed us even though we only stayed for about an hour. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience even though we'd been looking forward to this restaurant's opening...
