Shish Garden — Restaurant in Woodhaven

Very disappointed in this restaurant. I was visiting Michigan from out of town and my husband and I wanted something close and good. Based on yelp reviews and my husbands desire for lamb, we ordered takeout from Shish Garden. The order itself was prompt and ready to go when I arrived. I ordered the chicken shwarma sandwich and he ordered the lamb shwarma platter. An hour or so after eating my sandwich I found myself throwing up my entire life over the toilet. This was followed by a nights worth of the runs.... My husband, too, ended up with the runs in the middle of the night. So disappointed in our experience and after spending the morning at the airport recovering, we called the restaurant to share our experience. I was told I would receive a call back from the manager but never did. So I called again today and finally got to talk to the manager who denied all claims that we got sick off of his food and refused to offer us a refund. Instead, he offered us MORE FOOD!? I, first, told him we didn't live in Michigan, but he seemed to not really care and said well next time you're here we'll give you more food. I then said, why on earth would someone eat more food from a place where they got sick at.... LOLOLOL.. I mean the audacity. He told me his restaurant was a five star restaurant and basically denied that it was his food that made us sick. EAT AT...

After going here for a few years and loving the food, I will no longer come to this establishment. The service and food was atrocious the other day. Service was done by a brunette waitress who had one other table besides ours and could not even get our identical orders correct even after asking for clarification. She had to be prompted to bring our drinks, hommos and then brought out COLD food 30 minutes later, with the wrong order. When asked about it she rolled her eyes and got an attitude back at us, saying "that is why she asked for clarification and it didn't make sense to her", even after she said it back to us in the correct way. She rudely asked if we wanted a manager and then left. We didn't requested the manager, however he came by and did not pay any mind to her rude demeanor or our cold food. We then received our bill which was $8 more than it was supposed to be, when asked why they claimed it was because we special ordered our sides. Never had this occurred in pervious orders! I will never go back to an establishment that treats customers with so little respect, and then charges them extra for poor service and cold food. Done...

SHORT VERSION: Excellent pricing and generous portions make their sandwiches (wraps) worth every penny. Flavorful food with lots of choices.

LONG VERSION: I've ordered from this place three times and I will definitely keep doing so. So far, I've gotten the seared lamb sajji, lamb ghallaba, and lamb kafta. The sajji is very tangy/sour, which I personally love. I will say, however, if you don't like pickles the sajji is not for you. The ghallaba and kafta are great and have a more savory flavor.

They have this strong, garlicky white dip that I absolutely love. You can always request a cup of it on the side. And the portions are quite large: their wraps could be split into 2 or even 3 sizeable meals. Staff and service are professional and hard-working.

If you are searching for an alternative to overly common food (like hamburgers or chicken sandwiches), or just want to try something that'll wake up your taste buds, I absolutely recommend giving Shish...
