4/22/2023: 2nd visit. Saw the reply to my review so stopped back in to get some flan, along with some tacos and horchata. Huge disappointment as they were out of the flan. I got the fried ice cream and let's just say that I wouldn't order that again. Horchata was more watery, not as creamy and flavorful as the other day. Tacos on the other hand hit the spot!!

4/18/2023: Heard there was a new Mexican place in town so I just had to give it a try. My daughter and I were immediately greeted when we walked in to Mary's Mexican Grill, otherwise known as the Tip Top cafe in Groundhog Day. We were told to pick our seats and were immediately served chips and salsa. My daughter ordered the chicken burrito and I ordered the chicken chimichanga and we both got a horchata. The horchata was the best I ever had. Service was stupendous and the food was great! Take a look at the pictures. The food tasted even better than it looks!

While we were there, we got a chance to meet and talk with the owner, Mary. She is a really down-to-earth person. I told her that I am really picky when it comes to Mexican food and usually order tacos when I first try a Mexican place but had confidence when I walked in that I could order something other than tacos here...and I was right. I let her know that I had already shared news about this place within minutes of arriving and that I would be sharing the news with others, as well as posting a review.

There was also a reporter from the Woodstock Independent there interviewing Mary. My daughter and I chatted with her and let her take pics of our food as well to post in her article.

Sidenote: I know this is a small place but it would be great if margaritas, flan and fried ice cream could be added to the menu.

We will definitely be back here! Hasta luego...

I have dined at Mary’s several times in the past and have generally had positive experiences. However, our most recent visit was extremely disappointing in terms of both service and food quality.

My wife and I had recommended Mary’s to some friends who had never been before, and they were excited to try it. Anticipating a busy evening due to an art event on the Woodstock Square, I made a reservation for six people at 4:30 PM. When we arrived on time, the restaurant was nearly empty, with only two other small parties present.

Despite the quiet setting, the service was poor from the start. Our server had a dismissive attitude and seemed inconvenienced by our presence. The drinks were poorly made and over-poured, and an appetizer of guacamole that we ordered never arrived—though we were still charged for it.

The quality of the food was noticeably below the standard we had previously experienced at Mary’s. Out of six guests, only five entrees were ordered, yet our bill came to $170. For that price, we expected far better service and food—especially from a nearly empty restaurant.

While I don't usually write reviews, this experience was disappointing enough to warrant one. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to Mary’s, and I would caution others to be aware of the inconsistency in service...

This was my first time at Mary's Mexican Grill, wow was I impressed with the taste quality of the food we got. Chorizo tacos had a hefty portion of meat, and just the right amount of cilantro and onions so that it wasn't over powered. The steak burrito was very tasty and the quesadillas we got for the kids were an absolute hit with my 2 picky eaters. I was slightly surprised as I was ordering at the total price, but as I ate the food, I began to justify what seemed like a lot for what we ordered. I think it was worth it. Take out order area was not the greatest and not having a menu board was not the easiest, but I think it is more of a.sit down place. I look forward to trying other items in the future. Service seemed to be slow, but I think I came at just the wrong time, as the cooks were making food for 2 tables and another takeout order. I was also in a bit of a hurry for a concert on the Woodstock square, so I think it may just have been my perception as it really only took 20 minutes or so from start to walking out...

This was our 3rd time having lunch at Mary’s Mexican Grill, and each time has been a great experience. Their dishes are all bursting with authentic flavor, and it really sets them apart from your typical Mexican restaurant. I decided to branch out from my usual go-to items on the menu today, and I ordered the Ceviche. Initially, I was a little hesitant to order it, as it seems to be something that is hit-or-miss, depending where you go. Our server went above & beyond by insisting I let her bring out a sample plate to ensure I’d like it, prior to ordering. It was absolutely delicious - Extremely fresh ingredients & the presentation was very nicely done as well. We always enjoy their red & green sauces at the table, the homemade guacamole, and the street tacos. The homemade tortillas are my favorite, and while I’ve never ordered a taco I didn’t like there, I’d have to choose the pastor taco with cilantro, onion & lime as the best! Give this place a try & support a local small business that deserves to be here for years to come!

Looking for authentic Mexican food in the Woodstock area, well this is the place to come! I’m usually here for breakfast but if the breakfast is delicious, I assume the lunch and dinner options are as well. I usually have the chilaquiles verdes with chicken! 👨‍🍳💋the green salsa is flavorful and the chicken is in Tinga style. If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically seasoned shredded chicken 🤤. It does come with sour cream and grated cheese- if that’s not your style just let your server know. Definitely a recommended place to visit when you are in the town square!
