The food was fantastic! Fresh, healthy, and tasty. They offer a tasting of an item before you order if you're uncertain whether you'll like it. The Moroccan eggplant, carrots, hummus, and falafel were especially great. I'm a huge tabouleh/tabouli fan, but their's was not my favorite; same for the babaganoush as it lacked smokiness. That said, it's a personal flavor and texture preference and I'm sure it's good for others. It's a very small place; a few seats are available in the general common area of this building just outside the restaurant; I think it is primarily a take-away place. I will mention that the flow to the ordering/waiting/ serve/ self serve processes were a bit awkward. I'd mentored to the employee that we'd not been there before, but the person behind the counter expected us to know how they do things and didn't communicate their expectations until after they see you're not doing as they expect, e g., you don't wait for your hot drink but sit outside of the restaurant and they bring it to you, the rice which is on the salad menu and an item that we expected as part of the large sampler is actually not one of the salad options for the samplers but they provide an item that isn't even on the salad list (I had the employeepount out each item provided as they're kinda' mushed together; they bring your food to you but you get your own plasticware, napkins, cup. Don't get me wrong, it's obviously not hard, but if you don't know what's expected, it makes for service awkwardness. Street parking was fairly easy, but if it was busy on the square I expect parking would be difficult. Despite the few oddities, I'd definitely return and highly recommend for...
Read moreI actually found out about this restaurant inversely, after hearing about it while talking directly with the owner herself during a community event at the nearby Unity Spiritual Center. I was enamoured with Leslie's vegan stew that she brought to the potluck and heard from some of the other gatherers that she had a restaurant on the square. I could tell Leslie was an amazing spirit right from our first meeting. We shared a bit on our passion for vegan cuisine and nutrition.
I had forgotten about the restaurant for a month or two until I had happened to walk past it while strolling around the square. I decided to pay a visit...
I was NOT disappointed! My new favorite restaurant by far! Hearty vegetarian and vegan recipes with a leaning towards middle Eastern fare, which, by the by, is some of the most satisfying styles of vegan recipes in my own humble opinion.
I ordered a vegan pizza for my first time. I was met with wonderful, friendly and professional customer service that even brought my food to me (she even went back to get me napkins and a fork when she realized I had forgotten to get them from the counter (I was still overwhelmed by the menu 😄))
I was happily served a pita style bread laden with hummus, matboukah, eggplant, sweet peppers, red peppers and olives. IT WAS DELICIOUS!
I officially love this place, and plan on bringing my fiance here so that we can try the whole menu!
Thank you Leslie and company for a great...
Read moreWhat a treat! I suggested Expressly Leslies to a girlfriend of mine who doesn’t necessarily like fast food. I had been there once before in 2023 and it was such a refreshing experience that had me thinking about it from time to time. So, today, we decided to give it a shot again. Orlando (the owner) and his son (Louis) were running the shop. They had mention they just bought it 2 years ago, about right around the time I first tired it. The SECOND visit to them thought, and wow, customer service hands down amazing. They let us try what we haven’t before and lead us through the menu. The cucumber salad, the sweet potato salad, and the warm pitas and hummus were amazing. There were a few other ones we got and each one was delicious. We couldn’t stop trying each salad, spread with the hummus. I suggest getting an extra pita bread if you get Leslie’s Plate (7 cold salad choices) and hummus. We also each got a hibiscus water which had free refills, so we definitely hit that back up. I recommend this place if you’re someone who enjoys cold food. It’s very filling and worth your money. Great to share or save all to yourself.
I’ll be going back as soon as I...
