I don’t usually leave reviews, but after the experience I had today at Bora Bora, I felt it was necessary—especially as someone who manages a busy location myself and knows what quality customer service should look like.
I walked into Bora Bora hoping to enjoy a nice coffee and maybe relax a little, but unfortunately, from the moment I got in line, the experience quickly went downhill. There was only one girl actually working—the young woman at the cashier wearing a hijab. She was not only taking all the orders, but also the one handing out drinks, apologizing to frustrated customers for the delays, and clearly overwhelmed. Meanwhile, two other girls who were supposed to be on shift were just laughing, playing around, and doing absolutely nothing—even while drinks were sitting ready on the counter in front of them. Customers had to literally approach the counter and say, “That’s my drink, I’ve been waiting for 25–30 minutes,” just to get served. Completely unacceptable.
The hijab-wearing girl kept apologizing to everyone in line, telling people to “please give her a second” while she tried to manage the angry customers in front of her. At one point, she even asked one of the girls (who was just standing around scrolling on her phone) to help her organize the space and refill the forks. The girl ignored her and just kept looking at her phone. I genuinely felt bad for the girl in the scarf—she was trying to do the job of three people with no help, while still managing to stay respectful and apologetic.
As a manager myself, I completely understand how overwhelming rushes can be. But I would never allow my employees to act this way—not only is it unprofessional, but it creates a toxic atmosphere for both customers and staff. I train my team to support each other, especially when things get busy.
When it was finally my turn to order, the girl at the cashier immediately apologized again for the wait and told me she’d do her best to get my order out as quickly as possible. She genuinely seemed to care, and honestly, she was the only one holding that place together.
But the worst part? After I waited all that time, another girl (long hair, major attitude) handed me my order without saying a word, no smile, nothing. I politely told her that one item from my order was still missing, and she just walked away—didn’t come back for a good 10 minutes. When she did, she looked at me and asked, “What are you still waiting for?” Then told me I needed to “move to the left” and not “stand in her face.” I was stunned.
A few more minutes passed, and she finally slammed the missing item on the counter with such a bad attitude it honestly felt like I had done something wrong just by ordering.
Customer service should never be like this. There’s a difference between being busy and being disrespectful and unprofessional. If it weren’t for the one hardworking girl who was clearly trying her best, I probably would’ve walked out.
Bora Bora really needs to re-evaluate their staffing and train their team on basic respect and work ethic. I won't be...
Read moreWhen I tried this place, I ordered online, at first I was going to walk in but saw a long line so I figured if I’m gonna wait a long time might as well go shopping across the street, so I ordered and then went to the stores across the street, but there was no point of doing that because I ended up waiting as long as if I would’ve walked in to order. I walked in with my cousin for pickup, we asked one girl where we go for pickup and she told us to wait where we were, that she was going to get our order. A few minutes pass and we were still waiting there, she only gave us half of our order which were 2 drinks, we still had to wait for strawberry cups. A round of the strawberry cups came out and we didn’t get any, the workers were giving the cups to other customers that ordered after us.. Then another guy comes in for his order (he ordered the same thing as me, which was a strawberry cup) and gets it before us and we had already been waiting 20 minutes. Another employee asked us what we were waiting for because she saw we were just standing there for a long time, we told her what we were waiting for, told us she was sorry and that when the cups came out we would get them. Then I heard the same girl that told us to wait where we were tell her the other employee to tell us to move to the front of the cashier, after she told us we were good where we were. I understand they were very busy that night but I didn’t like her vibe from the beginning, it’s like she was doing it on purpose. Also,, there was a LONG line and she was texting someone on her phone for a while, she kept looking at us the whole time.. it just didn’t make sense to me because she told us we were good where we were then ended up saying we weren’t where we were supposed to be??? I was SO ready to ask for a refund but i made the drive out there to specifically try these strawberry cups so i was forced to just wait. Anyways when we finally got our order, and that was only because we told them to give it to us when we saw the cups come out, all 3 of the workers basically ran to them to give us our order, then the very kind girl (the one that asked what we were waiting for and apologized), gave us a chocolate on the house because she saw that we got very angry. I didn’t get names and I wish I would’ve. I should’ve done more research before coming here because it seems like a...
Read moreWhen I discovered this place I was immediately addicted! On my first trip I had the Hawaiian Pitaya Bowl, with a substitution. It was delicious and refreshing. I've never had anything like it. The granola was light and crispy, and all the flavors came together very well. The one complaint I have is that the mango and kiwi were not ripe enough so they were harder than they should have been. Next time I created a custom bowl with Pitaya, strawberries, banana, and pineapple, and I loved it even more. WARNING If you've never had pitaya, it is very high in fiber, so I strongly suggest that you only try it if you're going, or taking it home!!🤣🤣 For the third trip, I tried the Bora Berry Acai Bowl. I liked it but not as much as the Pitaya, and probably because the Acai was too sweet. I've had Acai bowls before, and I prefer it to be slightly tart, so that it complements the sweetness of the fruit, otherwise you can't really taste the distinctive flavors of each one. The one issue I have with the online menu when it comes to the description for the bowls, mainly the coconut & the matcha, it doesn't say if it's a coconut smoothie, and a matcha smoothie. Is the basement mixed with other fruits?
It wasn't all roses and gumdrops though, because the counter service could be better. First, I was never greeted when I came inside. I expected something like, "Hi. Welcome to Bora Bora. How can I help you, or Are you ready to order"? That's not what I got. On 2 separate occasions the young lady, and the young man just looked at me, and turned away. I wasn't offered a menu. I wasn't asked if I have any questions about the menu. Not even when I told the young lady it was my first time there so I'm not sure what I want. No one said "I'll be with you in a second". It was never said that if there's something I don't want, it can be substituted. Nothing. They literally looked at me until I said I was ready to order.
Overall, I enjoyed what I had, and pre-ordered to avoid awkward...
