First, the food is still as good as ever. We really enjoy their jumbo wings and pizza which are consistently tasty. I have posted a couple of positive reviews for this location with a 5 star rating since it is a good place
The new owner has done a good job with the few remodeling items, the place is brighter and friendlier. We use to go to the Durbins on Cicero in Midlothian but started coming to this location because of the good service and closer proximity to home.
We were sadly disappointed with a few things on our visit last night (Fri, Sept 10th).
The service on this visit was lacking to say the least. We arrived at 6pm and the bartender who was on duty at the time took a long time to take our drink order. There were not a lot of customer so we don't know why it took so long for her to help us. We ordered a bucket of beer and some limes. The beer was brought to the table with no limes. We reminded her of the limes and thought she would be right back. We never did get the limes with that first bucket of beer. In fact this particular bartender never returned because there was a shift change.
We thought, great the new bartender should be better than the first. Not the case at the beginning of our dealing with this new person. Again, it took her a long, long time to come to our table. she cam to the table next to us 3 times but never came over to ask if we were doing ok. We finally had to call out to her when she went back to the bar and was chatting with another new bartender. By this time there were even less customers in the restaurant.
We ordered another bucket of beer and limes along with some jumbo wings. The beer and limes were brought over quickly so we thought we were on track. Well, fast forward about 40 minutes and no jumbo wings ever arrived. During this time we were never told there would be a delay. We had to stop and ask the bartender if the order had actually been entered into the system. She said they had been ordered but the kitchen was backed up with takeout. This could have been the only reason for the holdup because there were still not a lot of customers in the place ordering food. It would have been nice if we would have been informed of the delay.
We finally got the wings and at this point we hesitated on ordering a pizza because we didn't know how long it would take to get our food. We went ahead and bit the bullet and asked for a large pizza. Things were now on track from this point forward with the service. The young lady was very polite and apologetic and the service was good once she paid closer attention to us. There was no reason why we should have had to flag her down twice. Please don't think we are the type of cutomers who are very very demanding. We realized things can be out of the servers control, all we ask is to be kept informed.
The other thing we didn't appreciate was a customer who seemed drunk who was loud and obnoxious. He was using the F word among other vulgar language and was out of control at times. He seemed to be a regular and was not asked to settle down. In fact, a young man with a beard who seemes to be an employee (saw him going into the kitchen several times) was interacting with the vulgar customer and the customer would get louder as if putting on a show. We are in no way saints, but we don't want to go out for a nice meal to hear someone like this man disrupt our evenung.
Durbins is a good place for cold beer and great food. We will be back with the hope that things improve a little with the service. Please dont hesitate to try this place if you have never...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at Durbins of Evergreen Park in Chicago left me utterly impressed and content. This charming restaurant exudes a warm and inviting ambiance that instantly sets the stage for a memorable evening. From the savory delights served in their signature bread baskets to the impeccable service provided by our waitress, Laura, every aspect of our visit was delightful.
Sides Served in Pains: Durbins' unique twist on serving sides in bread baskets, lovingly referred to as "pains," was a refreshing departure from the ordinary. The warm and freshly baked bread was aromatic and irresistibly delicious. The selection of sides presented alongside the bread was a feast for the senses. The Loaded Cheese Fries, generously topped with gooey cheese and crispy bacon, were a decadent treat that disappeared within seconds. The Buffalo Cauliflower Bites were a pleasant surprise for vegetarians, featuring a delightful balance of heat and tanginess that left us craving more. The variety of sides served in the bread baskets added a distinctive touch to our meal and was truly a standout feature.
Laura's Impeccable Service: Laura, our wonderful waitress, was a true gem throughout our dining experience. Her warm smile and attentive nature immediately put us at ease. She guided us through the menu with expertise, offering valuable suggestions that catered perfectly to our preferences. Laura's dedication to ensuring our needs were met was evident as she checked on us regularly, ensuring our glasses were never empty and our dishes were served promptly. Her friendly demeanor and genuine interest in our satisfaction made the evening even more enjoyable. Her excellent service elevated our experience and made us feel like cherished guests.
As for the main dishes, we were not disappointed. The Chicago-Style Deep Dish Pizza, generously layered with gooey cheese and flavorful toppings, was a slice of heaven on a plate. The tender and juicy Baby Back Ribs, glazed with a lip-smacking barbecue sauce, practically fell off the bone, making them a carnivore's delight. We also indulged in their classic Chicken Parmesan, which was perfectly breaded, moist, and accompanied by a rich marinara sauce. Each dish was a testament to Durbins' commitment to quality and taste.
In conclusion, Durbins of Evergreen Park is a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Chicago. The sides served in bread baskets and Laura's impeccable service were standout features that set this restaurant apart. Whether you're craving the comfort of their delectable pizzas or the sizzling goodness of their ribs, Durbins is a must-visit for all food enthusiasts. This charming establishment knows how to create a delightful dining experience that lingers in your memory long after...
Read moreOrdered 3 Corn Beef sandwiches which literally a couple of pieces of corn beef in it. Very ridiculous for the cost over $10 each one and certainly not worth eating there. Not good at all and ruined my night. When it was ordered the lady on the phone said it was a very big sandwich with a decent amount of meat on it. 3 bogus sandwiches, overpriced and I recommend not eating at Durbins of Evergreen Park on a 103rd and Kedzie. Go somewhere where you can get good food not a freaking poor sandwich with no meat. They aren't even serving traditional Irish corn beef sandwiches, is it even a real Irish restaurant? Also by the way the sandwiches didn't taste good and the mostaccoli wasn't good either. So extremely disappointed, businesses like this shouldn't be in business. Went there today on March 15, 2025. Definitely not worth the $38.61 I paid and they need to find a good chef/cook because it's not good to be a restaurant that has terrible food. I should get a refund. I live near this place and certainly will let all my friends as well as post all over about my experience. I am Irish and know Irish food and those sandwiches aren't, let alone they aren't good. It appears that the owner isn't doing anything as I am editing my posts because he/she keeps saying sorry but isn't doing anything to improve the poor conditions. I see all the bad reviews, wish I would have read them before getting food from there. Just wanted to say it is now April 23rd and the owner nor manager reached out or said anything because they know what I said is a fact and they aren't interested in doing anything. What a shame that they don't care about their business or customers, that speaks out...
