I have been patronizing Hog Wild for many years now at the Midlothian location. My family and I decided to visit the Oaklawn location since it's closer to home and the experience was by FAR THE WORST!!!!! Take note, yesterday we were the only black people patronizing. My mom and I ordered the steak special, the busboy gave us our food which usually at the Midlothian location they give us steak sauce, sour cream, etc. We asked if we could get another steak sauce as the steak was a nice size. The Busboy replied "maybe" he eventually came back and casually threw the steak sauce on the table. Towards the end of the meal my daughter started packing up her leftovers. The busboy loomed over the table as we were packing up leftovers. He kept watching us as if he thought we were going to steal something. My daughter had a Styrofoam container, the busboy came over to the table in a hurry and asked her what she was going to do with the container. My daughter replied, It's for bar b que sauce. The busboy........snatched the container from my daughter and told her no. She went to the cash register where they gave her two bar b que sauce containers. At this point I am angry; I asked one of the other employees to get the manager. The manager comes over. Now, while the manager is at the table the busboy is standing near staring at us. After explaining my experience to the manager, the manager says, "I will speak with him, he doesn't speak much English but I can speak Spanish fortunately." The MANAGER Then proceeds to point at the police dining in the restaurant and says "I thought you were calling me over because you were worried about those guys and maybe you had a warrant you were worried about." At this point I was boiling!!! As badly as I wanted to respond. I decided to leave and will never patronize this establishment again. I refuse to spend my money and endure blatant racism. I do plan to share this experience with as many people and social media outlets as I possibly can.
I response to your comment. I see you’re not only racist buy this is a habit of how you treat your customers of color but you’re a liar!!! If we ran the cameras back anyone can see no one “took” your bar b que sauce! Your busboy was trolling our table!!!! You just openly admitted that your busboy was specifically watching us! There was only one person with ribs the rest of us had steak! Your busboy could have simply offered the takeout containers of bar b Que sauce which we were not offered! And here’s a fun fact for you! We are also law enforcement! If you would like we can come in full uniform with the press As we will take this a step further please make sure to share the footage where we are “taking your bar b que sauce” a simple apology could have resolved this issue but now I need to let people know! Your establishment is Not kind nor does it favor people of color! I wish I had captured this...
Read moreNot sure what's going on but seems like the Oak lawn Hog Wild is their own thing. This is the 2nd time I've ordered the Southwest Chicken sandwich and the "southwest" flavor is gone. While I'm not sure if they always used plain mayo, I will say it's never been to the point where I could open the sandwich and it was apparent. It always looked like it was infused with Cajun spices or something similar but lately, all I've ended up with is a grilled chicken club sandwich 😑😑. Sticking to the recipe would be nice, please
UPDATE: I've been eating this Hog Wild sandwich for at least 10 years, back when coffee and cake was self-serve and FREE for the taking, and the dining area was only 1 big room. That's 99% of what I eat from there. I'm not ordering the wrong sandwich. It's the only one that includes bacon. The Southwest chicken is, or was "seasoned" with more than salt and grill lines, hence the name "Southwest" (please see photo of sandwich under JC's Adventure Hog Wild review. Notice the color? That's Southwest deliciousness). Otherwise, it's just a plain ol' grilled chicken club sandwich with ranch. And to that extent, either you changed the brand of ranch dressing or someone's been slathering mine with plain ol' mayo. The sandwich I get had no mushrooms, which is what comes on the Spicy Chicken sandwich and no bacon.
What I will do is go back to the original Midlothian location to see if their's is the same. Stay tuned for a 2nd update. In the meantime, at least use the ranch dressing it's supposed to have and not mayo. My eyes knows what it sees and my taste buds confirm...
Read moreIts probably been a decade since the last time I had the original Hog Wild in Midlothian and this one is just as outstanding.
The small, strip mall location isn't as alluring from the outside as the one in Midlothian with their large, standalone building and iconic sign but once you're inside it has that same feel.
The Hossa sandwich is a masterpiece. Simple as hell and done to perfection. Just a grilled cheese with bacon and a generous amount of pulled pork and bbq sauce. Best bbq pork sandwich I've ever ate.
The pork chops are their bread and butter and are the best in the game. I don't need to go into detail. They don't have competition within 1000 miles of here.
The fries and oven browns were very good. Had to make a 20 minute drive home with them in tow but even lukewarm were very enjoyable. The green beans were surprisingly delicious too. Fresh, not canned (possibly frozen but I wouldn't trip unless it was the garbage out of a can) and very flavorful without being drowned in salt and butter. Actually feels like effort was put into making them be healthy AND tasty. Don't find that with a lot of these places now.
Idk man, I never go into great detail on reviews (and honestly just give them when the place sucks) but I just loved this dinner we got from here last night so much. You made a birthday girl and her boyfriend very happy and now knowing there's a verified A+ Hog Wild closer to home I think we'll be coming here a lot more...
