Incredibly disappointed with the overall experience here. Had reservations and was sat fairly quickly. That was the best part about the evening. From the point we sat down, (other than bread, water and oil) it was 15 minutes before we saw our waitress. After bringing 2 glasses of wine - it was another 15 minutes before she took our order. After ordering 2 different meals off from the “specials” she told us about, It was another 50 minutes before the food showed up. Not once during that time did anyone stop at our table to discuss why the food was taking so long- it wasn’t until we flagged down our waitress and asked that we were told “sorry there is a big banquet going on and the kitchen is backed up- and there are two tables of orders ahead of ours”. Terrible excuse - especially where no one let us know before we asked the question- again after waiting 50 minutes. Another 10 minutes goes by - so now we have waited an hour for 2 meals. My T-bone steak was the worse I’ve ever had. Arrived luke warm, Overcooked, and was so bland I had to ask for steak sauce which I haven’t used on a steak in years! The steak was so tough, my girlfriend had to hold the table to prevent drinks from spilling because it was shaking while I was trying to cut it! There wasn’t 1 ounce of seasoning on the steak. I would expect in a restaurant of this caliber - When I asked for steak sauce - the waitress would have realized immediately something wasn’t right! No good steak ever needs steak sauce! Mac and cheese that came with it also bland. My girlfriend ordered the seafood special over spaghetti. It was just ok - nothing special at all. What was left she had no interest in taking home. When the manager came by the table toward the end of the meal and inquired how everything was - we said “it was just ok” and made the details above known. She asked if the waitress had stopped by to check on us, and we indicated “not really” - to which the waitress immediately came over and wanted to debate our claim and stated “yes I did check on you and you said everything was great” - that never happened but we weren’t about to argue the point in the middle of the restaurant. The manager quickly shuffled away with the waitress to speak to her in the back. When the manager returned, she announced that the waitress was “Luciano’s daughter in law and there was none better than her”. Again we weren’t going to debate the point - we just stated that it was nearly 40 minutes before she checked on us, and the “banquet overwhelming the kitchen”excuse didn’t help us feel better about our experience. The manager offered to buy us dessert to which we declined as at this point we had been there for 2 hours and just wanted to pay our check and go. She did however take our 2 glasses of wine off the bill, to which we were grateful for, but stated that it wasn’t necessary and wasn’t why we were voicing our discontent. The waitress brought the bill and to our surprise - the 2 “specials” were more expensive than anything on the regular menu! My T bone was $99 and my girlfriends seafood meal was $80. We don’t mind paying top dollar for a top meal, and we frequent many restaurants weekly, but this meal was mediocre at best. It’s obvious that the kitchen being overwhelmed because of the banquet was the source of much of the issue here. So with that said, if you are going to make a reservation here, I suggest inquiring if there are any big functions going on - if so - choose another day!! I also suggest making sure you ask what the “specials” cost as the way they go about presenting them is somewhat deceptive since they are more than items on the regular menu. The manager did speak to us on the way out and be sure we had her card in the event we decide to return, so the recovery effort was definitely there and she did her best which is worth noting. That said, We likely...
Read moreThe service here appears to be touch and go. If they get really busy (Fri or Sat) you better be great at conversation with your date or company. Otherwise, you are in for a really awkward wait. We waited, no joking, over 1 hour for our meals to come after our appetizers. Worse, there was no follow up from our server during this time; no apologies, no offer for more apps, bread, drinks, nothing. They just disappeared. Some of these servers have been here a long time. I'm afraid they may have learned some bad habits along the years or that they are no longer "hungry" to excel at their job; likely gotten apathetic over the years.
When the food does come, you will typically not get disappointed. If you tend to like your meals "creamy", this is the place for you. Salmon oscar, chilean seabass, scampi, piccata, parmigian, etc... all good and in large portions! Calamari does suck served with cocktail sauce. It felt really cheap and we would not order it again.
Steak wise, I would leave ordering steak at a real steakhouse. The steak price points are high but are not commensurate with the quality. So if you're going to pay a high price, you might as well do it at a real steakhouse where you will have a better chance of satisfaction. Don't get me wrong, the steak is good. But it's not THAT good for the price paid.
The pastry/dessert chef rocks! We have not had a bad dessert here. Our favorites tend to be the chocolate molten lava cake, tiramisu and the creme brule. The creme brule's sugar crust is on the thicker side and it's perfect!
Overall, this appears to be a good restaurant that is dying for a good service makeover. There's no real complaint about the food... when it finally gets there. But I'm afraid that the food is not good enough to overcome the apprehension of the long wait and poor service. With a lot of new restaurants coming up all the time, it would be very hard to come back. If the restaurant owner/manager is reading this, consider watching the 2nd season...
Read moreI heard mixed reviews for this place through the years so I decided to try it. Not impressed at all. Very overpriced for average Italian food. I wonder if anyone that really has been to or knows good Italian food actually does an honest review for this place. They dont even have sparkling Saratoga just still and I never had still Saratoga.lol The calamari was ok, very small portion for 18.95 and it came out with cocktail sauce not marinara. Not worth it at all. I had a caesar salad and the dressing was not even that good. It said fresh anchovies but the ones I got were from a can. Basic anchovies you would get anywhere. My wife has a good dish and the chx was moist and delicious so they got it right there BUT for 31.95 NOT at all worth it. They are obviously a cash grab because the area lacks any real good Italian so I guess since it is near Gillette they get a good jacked up price for their average cooking. Our waiter was a bit clueless and was asked multiple times for simple things and she forgot our salad as well. The salad was trash and was all cheap white iceberg lettuce. Their marinara sauce was good. The place was crowded and had a nice ambiance. I can think of a ton of better places to eat real Italian food and I have actually had better at Olive Garden.lol...dont waste your time. I do not think that this is the place for people who actually enjoy great Italian food. It felt more of a place for old aged people to have a drink and see each other but needless to say not worth it at all and I know my Italian on the east coast and working in Boston at Italian restaurants in my younger years. Overpriced, subpar service and food. At least I know that I was not missing anything really through the years. I know places that charge half the price that put this place underneath the table. Very clean bathrooms though...
