I hate to give Tudor's Biscuit World a bad rating, since most of their restaurants are clean and well run but the one in Xenia Ohio has problems -- mostly due to management issues. Hopefully they have gotten their act together and provide the same quality service as is available at other Biscuit World restaurants.
"Cleanliness is next to Godliness" is a saying I have heard for many years. Unfortunately, in two repeated trips to this facility, employees handled money and then touched food without washing or using gloves. Hopefully this was simply a bad employee or one who had not been told when it was necessary to clean their hands or wear gloves.
At the same visits, I looked at the Men's restroom which was pretty gross. At first I thought I just stepped in after a particularly messy customer had used the facility. On my return trip, the bathroom was just as dirty, and when I ask an employee, they responded that they would look into the issue, but in the half hour or so that I was there, I never saw anyone actually go in to check things out. I don't know about the women's room, but the men's room is large and very suitable for wheelchair access.
Yet another issue is that they often get the orders wrong at this location, and the regular customers who come day to day seem to be given preferential treatment at times. I believe some of this, and also complaints about having to wait a long time for food is because food is cooked to order. At times it probably is better to prepare some of the food in an in a non sequential order so that all food in an order will be ready to pack out at the same time..
I have also seen team members, including a manager, get short with non-regular customers who had issues with the restaurant or their food This is a very unprofessional way to do business, and could be corrected by the franchise owner quickly. Perhaps this has already occurred.
At times the various staff members, cooks, cashiers, and management all run around without an apparent direction. Cross training of employees is an excellent thing to do, but having managers and cashiers pulling food out of the kitchen or cooks running the cash register not only looks disruptive, but probably actually slows down some food preparations. There should be an established job for each employee, and they should not switch jobs on the fly.
Good points are that they provide senior discounts, discounts for military and law enforcement, as well as other first-responders.
The food is good, with some dishes not available at other Tudor Worlds. but I am scared to go to this location again due to the obvious lack of concern about cleanliness shown by some employees in the past. Perhaps I should go in and see if they are doing better and try them again someday.
This restaurant has a strong following among people who have the time to spend and eat a meal and drink a few cups of coffee each day. It is the type place you see political candidates go to talk with the electorate.
Most of the regulars seem to know each other and talk about all types of things. In reality, these regular customers are one of the best features of this restaurant. These regular customers seem to be very nice people that would accept others quickly if approached, so if you are looking for a place to sit down, have a meal with an extended family, maybe talk some politics or about something else. You might find you like being able to spend some time to unwind with...
Read moreThis is one of the worst " dining " experiences I have ever had , My wife and I had been wanting to try this place for a long time, extremely disappointed in the service! It's a Friday about 12:15 pm. , order line was about 4 to 6 people deep. Took us almost 20 mins just to get to place our order, meanwhile one of the cashiers is being unprofessional, arguing with the cooks and no one is getting her to calm down, I have 2 young children, I did not see any kids menu, so went to place our order and find a seat, My kids both got Chocolate Milk and since I guess they don't cater to children because we were never offered a spill proof cup to put their milk in, immediately my 3year old spllis his chocolate milk all over himself, We waited over 25 mins for our food! There were 2 to go orders and 2 tables in the dining room that came after us and got their food before we did 1 dine in table got their food wrong as well . Finally the older cashier lady comes out with what appears to be part of our order walks across the dining room and into the hallway where The Restrooms are and no tables are in that hallway!!!!! Back out with the tray of food Then walks back across the dining room stating she is lost, No one came out to help her and she ignored us when I asked her if that was part of our meal, At this point I had been there about 40 mins and still only had soft drinks and a dirty kid to show for it after spending over $37 We decided to leave saw about 6 entrees still in the window, and still nonsense going back and forth from the kitchen and the service staff I was handed my refund by the mgr who somehow emerged from the office I assume once I asked for my refund How can your staff seem to be so confused and incompetent on a busy day? I drove out from Dayton excited to finally try this place only to leave hungry,...
Read moreWe love Biscuit World, so were very disappointed with our recent experience! We were beginning our eight-hour drive to North Carolina, and wanted to get a quick breakfast to take with us...
After waiting on line for a half hour (according to the server who brought our food to the car), we received the wrong order!!
They remade our food quickly—but so quickly that the cheese wasn’t even melted!!
We were unaware of the all-you-can-eat special, but surely they weren’t! Seems as though they would have been better prepared to handle more customers.
Update: Yesterday when I went through the drive-thru and requested a dozen biscuits the person had to put me on hold to check and see if they had any. Hello?? No biscuits at Biscuit World?!? After several minutes (where could she have possibly gone? The place just isn't that big!) she said, "Ok." I waited a bit for her to elaborate but when she didn't I had to ask what she meant. OK turned out to mean that they had biscuits. Whatever. There was only one person in line ahead of me, and hardly any cars in the lot, yet I had to wait for nearly ten minutes. Ten minutes in a drive through is a long time! When it was finally my turn at the window the (same?) woman asked if I wanted the biscuits buttered. Seriously? In all that time they didn't have them buttered??? Five minutes longer--FIVE!--I had my biscuits and drove off.
I continue coming to this location because (1) their biscuits really are that good, and (2) even when I have to wait an unreasonably long time and they never apologize, it's still faster than making them myself.
But seriously--this location needs some attention!
Bottom line: only go when there’s a special if you have lots and...
