Today I visited one of my regular favorites, Rooster Tea in YL. They're located in the small, very locally owned shopping center off of Yorba Linda Blvd and Yorba Ranch Rd, in between the Yorba Linda Pet Care Center (veterinarian - so lots of cute dogs) and OC Wine Mart & Deli.
When you walk in, the front door is decorated and partially open and is already inviting. You're greeted with the colorful rooster mural on your right, and cozy seating on your left. I've never seen anyone actually sit down and work on their laptop here, but they have enough seating to do so.
The staff is always very cheerful and helpful, and I tend to learn something new about the establishment whenever I go. Today I learned that my regular order already has a little sugar in the base, so I could have ordered 0 sweetness instead of my usual 25%. Maybe next time ;)
There's a rewards system in which you receive points for each order, so be sure to sign up. You simply enter your phone number before purchasing on their touch screen. The rewards system used to be a punch card - I never remembered to bring mine! I'm sure the new system is more convenient for everyone.
Drinks are made very quickly. Mine was ready in less than 3 minutes.
When the staff was wrapping up my order, a few people walked in and the staff recognized them right away. Apparently it had been many months since he last came in (sounds like 6 months or more), but she instantly remembered his regular order - a peach slush. He was impressed she remembered, I was impressed she remembered. I'm sure the lady in the corner of the shop was also impressed!
Hats off to Rooster and congrats on your hiring practices and how you treat your employees. You're very lucky you have such a bright, smart, welcoming staff so please continue to treat them well! Give the employee today a raise - I will return back soon to find out her name and DM the owners with praise. It's so rare to have such special employees.
Finally, my order - I always get the Passionfruit Green Tea ($6.56 + 15% tip). 25% sweet, in the 24 oz cup aka the large. It's my favorite tea I've tried out of any tea shop I've been to. It's the perfect flavor and I hope it doesn't change!
They have a wide variety of options for drinks and toppings, and also have churros, egg rolls and fries, as well as ice cream and mochi ice cream. I'll be back soon and will try to part ways with my favorite drink so that I can try and review more...
Read moreWe love the tea here at Rooster Tea Yorba Linda. We return about every two weeks. However, our on most recent visit customer service was horrible. Upon arrival, no one was there to help us. We ran the bell for almost five minutes and continued to say hello. Two girls were loudly chatting in the back. It was obvious that they heard us because they paused their conversation to listen to us ring the bell. Then a man came out of the bathroom to help us; he seemed to be on something or high as he was clearly not present. We asked about the girls chatting in the back and why we had to wait. He replied that they were having a conversation and that it was okay. It’s never okay to leave a customer waiting or the front of a store unattended. Our drink was made wrong. He apologized that he heard wrong and remade the drink. On our visit, three strikes, bad customer service, terrible excuse for making the customer wait and made our drinks wrong. I don’t think we will return unless the staff is trained how to offer great...

Ding Tea does it all very well to my standards, and it feels great to finally have a boba place nearby our home. I don't have to travel out to the San Gabriel Valley just to have a nice cup of boba.
