Ocean Phở — Restaurant in Yucaipa

This place is in a newer mall location next to a Caesars pizza. Don't be put off. You walk in and are warmly greeted and asked to take a seat anywhere. Nice clean tables and newer chairs with comfortable padding. There are chairs at the counter but too much work going on that would seem to make this uncomfortable for guests. Menu is pretty extensive. I tried the curry soup (very much like a Singapore curry laksa). They advised me it took about 20 minutes to prepare this dish as they would make from scratch. Worth the wait, with rice noodles, chicken on the bone, and chunky vegetables and curry broth. The presentation is very pleasing. The flavors were enjoyable but could do with more spice and more of a curry flavor. Price was about $9.99. The owners/ workers were very industrious the entire time and cleaning tables and preping food. Bathroom was also clean. There weren't many people in at 3pm, about 2 to three couples. They had a large TV screen behind the counter but nothing playing and no music, so the atmosphere was a tad sterile. Overall though...

Updated 06/27/25: While they have been my go-to Pho place for a few years, I found a new one across the way that wasn't so salty. I love the basil 🌿 it's one of the best things about the soup but this time, the basil was old and wilted. I'll skip this place next time.

Well... I was prepared to write a raving review but after reading Nicolas Metz’ review about the mouse and insects, I’m feeling grossed out and am not sure I will eat here again... But then again, that’s the price you pay for eating out. In my experience, even the nicest restaurants can have the same issues or worse!

With that said, we ordered out and upon pickup the staff was very nice. Our PHO was delicious, not overly salty as some can be, packaged/separated well for pickup.

Updated 10/08/23: The Pho 🍲 is still delicious but it’s gotten awfully salty! It tastes like there’s a tablespoon or two of salt in my soup. I get it, broth needs salt, but moderation never killed anyone! I usually love sipping the soup...

Horrible service. I google what time this place opens and google says 930am. I get there and the door is open so I go in to order. I stand there for about 5 mins until a lady comes in the door rudly asking me what I want. I said I'm here to order and no one has helped me yet. She keeps telling me they arent here yet? Who is they and why is your door open??? Then proceeds to tell me they don't open until 10. Then why in the hell is your door open? So as I walk out I see in big large font on the door that they open at 930 so I tell her they should change the time on the door and as I'm telling her she is yelling at me that they arent there yet (I'm still trying to figure out who is they) as the guy in the kitchen is just coughing everywhere not even worried to cover hes mouth. Wear a face mask. Who is they and who asked for a side of covid/etc in their food and why is the door open? They have lost my service...
