I grew up with this place and it’s close to my heart. I also have met the owner and think she’s great!! Very kind, professional, and personable. However, when a company is clearly instructed over the phone when placing an order that something MUST be gluten-free, asked again (and assured it is) at the register, only to dig in nearly biting into wheat....that company gets VERY LOW marks. For reference I paid just under $40 for 4 Açaí Bowls and made clear that one needed to be GF/wheat free due to allergy. I am not someone who is following some GF lifestyle or has the option to eat or avoid bread as I like. I am allergic. I get short of breathe, get rashes on my arms, my abdomen swells painfully and my heart races...who really knows what else my body endures!! I haven’t eaten wheat or gluten in years (on purpose at least). While I’m a minority, I do not believe in businesses that take dietary restrictions lightly. They could kill a child. They may not see it this way...but it’s a fact!! My kids have no food allergies (thank God) and I wish I didn’t either BUT I make it politely CLEAR anytime I chance a snack or meal outside my house (which is rare). This is yet another example of a business lacking compassion and alienating people for a disability they cannot control. Yes, disability is a HUGE word to use, and most don’t see it this way. BUT a food allergy is something someone lives with, does not choose, and by federal law is due reasonable accommodation for. Time and again, experiences like this alienate people dealing with these health issues and isolate them from basic human cultural activities. You don’t have to live it to start to understand it. It is so healing and such a blessing when someone listens and accommodates...takes a food allergy seriously and cares for others, even though they may not relate. I just wanted to have a treat with my kids...something most people take for granted, but I simply can’t safely do outside my home. IF a company listens just a little better they become better than 99.99% of all the others. Bummer of a Friday afternoon experience. Employees need to listen to customers not just because it’s good business, but because they can harm someone...
Read moreI'll do my best to make this review as fair to a long time establishment in yuma. I did go in the heat of the summer so I'm going to consider that. They definitely have come a long way since their humble beginnings and have tried to keep up with the times. Though I feel like they should offer more health conscious options for people that are on diets like keto and the like. The staff seem young and not completely informed on what the drinks on the menu included. For Someone like me who has lived in a big city for some time now I'm used to being greeted as I walk in the door at places like Coffee Bean which was not what I got when I went there. I did like the smoothie that I drank I don't remember what it was called I think it was some blood orange based drink it was really good. The staff was friendly but like I said maybe it was the age but they just didn't seem like their head was in the game. This was on a Friday and again in the middle of the summer there wasn't many people there. I will definitely have to try the food out next time to give a better review on other items that they have to offer outside of drinks. I did like the atmosphere and they did have some cool modern indie music playing over the speakers. I did feel like the music was a little too loud which made the people that began to arrive there talk louder so it's kind of annoying when you're trying to have a conversation with someone because you feel like you're yelling. I don't know if it's maybe the big glass windows in the front that makes everything louder in there but it feels more like a bar then a quiet coffee shop. My friend and I went outside because of that. It doesn't help that when they're making a drink for someone and running the mixers it gets even louder. That's the biggest downside to my experience there. There is not a lot of old school Mom and Pop places like the coffee bean left so I encourage people to support local businesses and never be afraid to voice your opinions, concerns and suggestions to the staff and management. This helps keep places like coffee bean competitive and ahead...
Read moreCame in for a date with my wife. We have been here a few times but I wanted to wait in the review until I tried a few things things.
Personally I really like the “Bean freeze” it’s not sweet and doesn’t have things added to it. It’s hard to find speciality drinks that are just good as is without sweetness and flavors
The sandwich’s were good. Good price for what you get and I’m a fan of how they give you plenty of things to put in your sandwich.
The place has a chill and welcoming atmosphere. The staff have been great every time I come. They have a variety of different smoothies that are fun to try. Some aren’t up my ally as much but i can appreciate them. My wife really like the peanut butter one with protein. They are all unique and well constructed.
We have been going here for a while and will be...
