The Barn — Restaurant in Zanesville

I just kinda blew in in a hurry on the way home from a gig. I didn't get to fully explore the place or try a a ton of the food options. The decor is that like stuff all over the walls thing that chain bars try to copy from real places like this. Maybe a little bit of a biker vibe but I'm guessing it could be more family friendly by day. I could be wrong, It's cool. But they have a pretty big menu a bar. It's mostly bar n grill style food. I was impressed with the amount of gluten free things things I could get. That's hard for me to find on the road. I got a gf pizza. It was fine. I'm sure their regular crust is even better. My gluten intolerant peeps know what I'm talking about here. But I really thought the price was great on it. Overall I'm impressed. Another small detail that I want to mention. They had live music in the next room/patio from me. The room I was in was incredibly well sound proofed from the live music space. I'm sure a really loud band you'd be able to hear but the band on tonight I couldn't. That's really an impressive level of attention to detail. I did check the band out a bit they were good too. It seems like a well run place. And all of the staff were very friendly too. I really went in not expecting much, just a quick bite and dip... But everything was just a notch up. It's possible it won't be the vibe for everyone. But I love that stuff when it's authentic. And the prices were great. They could add a buck to everything and I'd still think they were great. We had a very good experience. The waiter was excellent. It is always a good visit when the waiter is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was fun with the planes, etc hanging from the ceiling and all the decor. The food was good. We will be back, especially when we are not dieting. We saw some really good items on the menu we would like to try. Now for the food. It was reasonably priced given what things cost now, but expected our large house salads with extras would be a little bigger. That said they were fresh and very tasty. What I liked best was you can basically build your own salad. The base comes with lettuce, tomato, onion and green pepper. The you can add proteins, like egg. Grilled chicken, bacon, etc and other toppings like different cheeses and also other veggies such as mushrooms, olives, etc and extra of any of the above. The base for the large is $9.99 and you pay extra to expand with the add-ons. A great place to get a salad the way you want. I suspect they can do some of that on other menu items as well, but they offer it for the house salad. It also comes as a small so you can get a custom side salad. 1st time ever visiting as we are not from Ohio, once we walked in we stood at the door for about 5 min until we were told to sit anywhere, we sat outside. We were there for about 30 min before anyone came to ask us for drinks, she came back 10 min later with drinks and menus. Another waitress came 20min later to take our order. I asked about what was dairy free and made sure my dressing was diry free and said no cheese. Our waitress came back when weve been already waiting 1h and 30min and said our food should be out soon. Our food took forever to come out, at this point we have been there 1h and 45 min. My food had cheese on it and took 15 min for our server to come back to check on us, she said she put a rush on it and it still took 20 min for me to get a new veggie sandwich wrap. My husbands burger had o seasoning on it amd his fries had no salt and we had no salt on table to put on himself. We were there for a total of 2h30min. The band was great. The othe two servers seemed very tenitive to there tables and was always around, but if we asked for anything we were told your serever will be out shortly and that shes busy but when i went inside to look for here she was nowhere insight.
