I usually don’t write reviews, but I decided to this time. We just visited them today expecting to experience an authentic Japanese restaurant like other reviews, but we left pretty disappointed. At first impression, the place was nice and clean, the staffs were amicable, and the menu had many options to choose from. We ordered a quite variety of types of food, from sushi to some dishes on the lunch menu.
The servers then appeared to be not well trained and quite unprofessional as they didn’t know many essential things, for example, what ponzu sauce was, which flavor their pudding was, or what kind of tea they had. Especially when one of them brought out the bowls for us, her finger was sticking into the bowl as she held it with one hand; even worse, there was an ant in it, and she tried to smash it INSIDE the bowl with her finger right in front of my eyes until I tried to stop her. 🫣
Food: Katsu curry, tempura, and the ramen were all great; we enjoyed everything even though we found the tonkatsu a bit too thick and tough. However, their unagi don was so “sad” as the eel was supper chewy, even though we asked them to fix it (which they did by torching the skin part and having the eel cut into smaller pieces). It was pretty unpleasant to eat. The sushi was surprisingly not that fresh. We have had good quality sushi many times, but that was not it! There were 4 of us, but only two people ate the raw sushi ones, and both of us got bad stomachache shortly after. We also ordered some desserts. The hojicha pudding was lovely; we finished it in a heartbeat. However, the cream crepe wasn’t that great; the crepe layers were thick and dense, while the cream was quite old and not fluffy. The flavor wasn’t that bad, but the texture was all wrong.
Overall: It was not a super terrible experience, but we won’t come back nor recommend...
Read moreHidden on a side street in the middle of “Korean Village”—my name—is this Japanese owned and operated little gem. From the delightful elderly greeter who sits outside, greeting guests with obviously genuine enthusiasm, setting the tone for the rest of the visit, to the lovely staff (all of them) and including the food and ambience, this is a 100% pure Japanese experience. To my wife and myself, this was as close to being back in Japan while in Danang as we feel we’re likely to experience. The flavors and ingredients in our dishes (katsu-don, oyakko-don and grilled mackerel) were all very good and prepared to a high standard by an equally enthusiastic chef who even followed us outside the restaurant to ask how things were and see us off.
This is a very “Japanese” sort of send-off even though he and our servers were all Vietnamese. We didn’t get to meet the Japanese owner but it’s obvious he’s gone to a lot of trouble to ensure that things are done consistent with Japanese attention to detail and that service is consistent with a high standard of Japanese style service. Several of the staff speak some Japanese and at least one speaks good Japanese. Clearly, we’ll be back again. Highly recommended.
Read moreI am just giving feedback for customer service and staff should be better trained. My husband booked a table at 7:30pm and we we arrived, they said that they thought he booked at 1:30pm. The table which were free at the time were supposed to be for 4 guests that they were expecting.
My husband at the same time wanted to leave already because he didn't like the atmosphere (sanity, seating at the 2nd floor). It didn't feel like Japanese restaurant after all.
We were disappointed leaving and while we were checking on Google map for another Sushi place, the staff ran to us and said that we could take the table that were supposed to be for 4 guests that she mentioned. We already lost our mood to step back in and fortunately we were very satisfied with...
