Grille6 Steakhouse — Restaurant in Hà Nội

I had dinner with my girlfriend today here because it’s near our home and would like to give a try. But all we got was really bad experiences.

The service was too slow. It took nearly 1 hour to serve the main dishes, though our table is the only one in the restaurant during 6-7PM on Sunday. The menu on the website is not up to date to the menu in the restaurant.

The appetizers (duck pate and avocado shrimp sald) were not fresh at all. The lamb chops were okay. But the steak was the worst. We called a medium rare one, then we got a really rare steak. After I called the server to re-grill because it’s too rare, we still got a rare steak (the photo was the steak after being re-grilled). Also, the USA steak didn’t taste like USA steak at all.

BAD BAD BAD service. DO NOT ORDER!

We ordered steaks and the delivery guy did not come to our building - after coordinating for about 15 minutes with the restaurant staff he finally came to our building and demanded we pay him 70k extra. When we asked why we had to pay extra he became aggressive and said he wouldn’t give the food if we didn’t pay him more and proceeded to threaten us by following into the elevator!

There were several calls made to the restaurant and despite paying the delivery charges and the full amount of the bill - we did not get food which was also late and at the wrong location. There is a lot to like about this place, though I wouldn't call anything there really exceptional. The food is pretty good, though it suffers from the Vietnamese obsession with smothering their steaks in heavy sauces. I get why some places serving shite cuts of meat do this, but Grill66 seems to be using reasonably edible beef. Their accompanying dishes are good, maybe better than the steaks. They have a small, but thoughtful wine list and stock some higher end Belgian beers as well.

I always leave satisfied. And yet, I almost never go. It is in an awkward neighborhood for me. I'm almost never their around meal times. Nothing they do is worth driving across town for, but I'd be a regular if I lived in this...
