Hoa Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

I give this one a 5* based on the food. The service is ok (not the best to keep the beer or ice flowing) and the ambiance is typical local seafood joint, the on street dining isn’t the cleanest and is quite loud given the busy road (and you almost sit in the road - see photo), yet the food makes up for it all. There is a reason it has 3 (4 if you include the scooter parking/bathrooms) storefronts in a row and has expanded over the years.

First of all - the selection. So many types of seafood. 19 types of snails alone, most with 3-4 ways to prepare. If you like snails, this is the place. All we tried were very good, especially the salt roasted. All of the snails were perfectly cooked and very clean tasting. None of that fishy or muddy taste they can sometimes have. Very fresh.

For other seafood, the garlic razor clams were excellent, as were the Japanese scallops and surf clams. All as good or better than we had at famous seafood places in Nha Trang.

And all locals here. This is local Vietnamese dining...

You know it's good when it's full of locals and they've opened multiple shops on the same strip to accommodate. Definitely try Oc Giac (very much like abalone) and the finger one (I think it was Oc Ngon Tay) in different sauces, you won't be disappointed! Particularly cool is when street vendors drive past you can order from them too (duck eggs, quail eggs, prawn crackers etc) and have it at your table.

Expect small tables with plastic seats, beer and ice in cups and plenty of atmosphere. If you're looking for fine dining, this isn't the place.

Mình đi buổi chiều đó khá vắng khách tầm 4 5 bàn gì thôi , vậy mà chờ 30p đồ ăn chưa ra nên mới hỏi sao chưa có nó ko thèm tl, lúc đó nó đang đứng bàn kế bên nên mình tưởng xa quá ko nghe dc. . Lúc sau nó đi gần mình gọi lần nữa nó im đi lướt qua rồi zô trong luôn , lần sau nữa nó đứng gần mình , gần lắm nhé , cách khoảng 2 3 gang tay thôi , mình gọi Anh Ơi chắc cũng 4 5 lần gì đó vẫn im mặt ngơ ngơ nhìn xa xăm , rõ ràng nó giả điếc ko nghe , thấy mình gọi quoài nó quay sang mặt lầm lỳ cực kỳ giang hồ tưởng nó bem mình ngay lúc đó rồi chứ , rồi tl 1 cách ko thể cọc cằn hơn . Lúc đang ăn có nghe bàn bên cạnh nói món Sò bị sống nhờ zô nướng lại mặt nó cũng lầm lỳ y như vs bàn mình. . Ah có 1 món từ đầu buổi đã gọi chưa mang ra nên mình cancel gọi tính tiền luôn , ngay lập tức nó mang ra liền , bó tay ]] , y như làm sẵn để đó vậy. . Rồi tới lúc tính tiền cũng vậy gọi ko ai thèm lại , mình bực hét lên nó mới lại tính tính gì đó rồi zô trong mình lại đợi tiếp , bực tập 2 đứng lên zô thẳng quầy tính luôn , bà thu ngân ko biết phải sếp ko, nc cứ quát quát làm mình thấy cái quán càng bát nháo hơn. . Lúc lấy xe vô tình thấy thằng bếp nhìn như bụi đời đã vậy gần đó còn thấy có cây baton nữa , ko biết của ai và để làm gì ]]. . Ko biết lý do vì sao Nhân Viên mặt lầm lỳ , im im hỏi ko thèm trả lời , ko hiểu sao quán này đến giờ vẫn còn tồn tại khách vẫn đông mỗi tối , tụ chung lại là phục vụ kém , đồ ăn ko...
