We came here for lunch expecting a fusion between Pho and Ramen. We thought that they would use Pho noodles with a rich Ramen broth (Something like Tonkatsu). However, we're not sure if that was the case. We ordered the "Clear" and "Red" broth. To be honest, it was very underwhelming. It tastes like a regular bowl of Hanoi pho. The "Clear" and "Red" broth tastes the exact same, no major difference in taste. The bowl starts at 60k and you have to choose your protein options for an extra charge. In our opinion, we paid 210k for 2 regular bowls of Hanoi pho. Overall, nothing special, nothing "Ramen" about it, just 2 bowls of regular Northern Pho.
They offer a veggie bar where you can grab anything you want. Unfortunately, all of the veggies were wilted and looked sad, and there was still dirt on the veggies. There's also chili, sate, fried onions, pickled garlic, lime for you to grab, which we liked! Also, free iced tea, milk tea, and coffee is provided! The interior and decoration of the inside is really nice. There are 2 floors, the 2nd floor is air conditioned. Staff is really nice and helpful.
In conclusion, I personally would not return to this restaurant. This is just my personal experience, other customers may like it, others may won't. Definitely come support and give it...
Read moreJust tried out KIMBO, a newly opened noodle shop on Phan Xich Long Street, and I was honestly impressed! The place has a charming Japanese-style interior, and they serve both Japanese ramen and Vietnamese pho.
On my first visit, I went for their pho, and wow—the broth was incredibly rich and flavorful. Honestly, it holds up really well compared to some of the most popular pho places in the city. If you’re into bold, savory flavors, this is your kind of place.
The owner happened to be around and told me their Japanese ramen is actually the signature dish—so I’ll definitely be coming back to try that next time!
Also… I ordered a black tea latte, and it totally blew me away. Super tasty and unexpectedly good—no joke! They should seriously consider expanding their drink menu 😄
To top it all off, I found out the owner is originally from Taiwan, just like me! Super friendly guy, and it made the experience feel even more personal.
If you're a Taiwanese expat in HCMC, or just curious to try pho with a unique twist (and chat with a fellow Taiwanese!), KIMBO is definitely worth...
Read moreNot going to lie, this was some unusual and unexpected ramen. Definitely not standard to Japan, but was still interesting and tasty. The spicy broth was solid, although a bit sweet. The eggs were good. The chashu definitely is not chashu. Just slices of pork. My main other complaints are the slow service (it took quite a while for our bowls to come out, which is strange for ramen) and the price, which seemed high for the quality and relative to so many other good noodles for...
