The food was okay. I'm one that doesn't like a lot of salt so I never salt my food. My dish had zero salt so I had to add salt, so did my coworker and we had two different dishes.
Service was good, friendly staff and chef. For such a small place it would be a good touch for the chef to greet and check on guest. There were very impressive restaurant reviews posted on the wall but I think somewhere along the way they have lost their drive and appeal.
Here is why I can only give 2 stars... Lack of cleanliness... Spiderwebs on the walls, extremely dirty floors. Not just dust from openness to outside but crumbs, hair, dirt, and trash. A deep cleaning is truly in need.
Why did I not leave? After reading the rave reviews on the wall I was too curious not to try the food. There were too many staff there standing around and eating behind the counter for the restaurant to be in this condition.
I wish you guys the best! I pray you can once again live up to the reviews posted...
Read moreThis is a lovely restaurant. Sitting by the river at sunset, looking across at Landmark 81, we ordered bruschette and pasta. The service here is always prompt and efficient. I asked for a free glass of water, and it arrived quickly with a slice of lemon. The bruschette were, as ever, delicious. I ordered a pasta I hadn't tried before - with chicken and pesto sauce. It was fabulous, quite the best pasta I've had here. My other favourite pasta is the aubergine one. As usual, it was a large plateful, which meant I had no room for dessert. I highly recommend this restaurant, but you should book a table; I didn't and was lucky to get one because most tables were reserved. It was a Friday evening; perhaps booking is not necessary outside...
Read moreThere will be no hesitation to say that it's the best pho, pasta and burger place in Saigon! I am sophisticated expat who lives abroad in different countries for over 11 years. I have been to Italy 6 times and definitely will say - Manuel makes the best pasta in the world! Burgers, not enough to say that it's so juicy and mouthwatering, that you will always comeback to eat more and more. Pho, wow and just wow, and wow again! I could continue listing all my compliments to Chef infinitely and longer, but it's better if you just come to Pho Ong Tay and eat it all by yourself! Hats off to Manuel and his team for the warmest hospitality, kaleidoscope of tastes and unique concept! I will pass by again when I visit Saigon next time!...
