Take a deep breath! Fresh air is getting rare in the city and except for some boats passing the River - expect no additional noise here.
Best to visit after dinner as this venue doesn't provide food. It's an outdoor spot for expats and educated locals, well worth the 20 min trip from downtown and not difficult to hit. Easy parking too.
This "River Club" just opened recently, general feel is rather upscale European and somewhat artistic, as this place seems to reshape on weekly basis. We had our moment of irritation while chilling on the river bank, listening to this dedicated dj guy pleasantly spinning latest underground tunes from another world. In case you somehow miss sophisticated music entertainment while in town, then good luck by finding an even remotely similar venue.
Sure bet (for the time being) is Sunday's with live DJ-ing.
Worth noting: their decent priced cocktails are awesome! Should you get hungry - plenty nearby...
Read moreI was very dissapointed. Slow staff with bad attitude and completely overpriced. The place itself is nice, but we had booked a drawing session for our friend's bachelorette party - but told them that we would supply our own model, as we wanted to spice it up with some muscles.
When we arrived there was no teacher as we thought there would be, but we still had to pay full price. When we then asked to buy some jugs, because we were a group of girls who wanted to share - the bartender said no and had an attitude, because the ice would melt, but when we convinced him he made the price for 1 jug 900k - almost like a robbery in daylight. Additionally, some of the girls ordered coffee as one of the first things, but the coffees never arrived. It was for me a very dissapointing experience, I would have expected more from a place run by a German guy.
They get two stars for the surroundings and because they made sure we had paper,...
Read moreThis looks like a dive from the street, because it's behind a decrepit old warehouse. You wouldn't know it's there except for the little lighted sign hanging in a tree. But once inside, you'll find a quiet upscale place to enjoy coffee, beer or mixed drinks in a magical riverside garden setting with a magnificent nighttime view of the city skyline. The friendly and outgoing bartender (owner?), Kevin, is Vietnamese, but speaks excellent English. Highly recommend for expats, even though it's a little far removed from the more popular districts for many. But this part of HCM has a distinctive small-town feel that makes for a calming escape from the bustle of the big city, well worth the small effort...
