Kim Anh Quan Oc — Restaurant in Nha Trang City

I am extremely picky when it comes to these snail restaurants because it is a simple dish to pull off. You simply boil, steam, grill, or stir fry some snails and dip it in some sauce or herbs and dry rub. Quan Oc Kim Anh is a street vendor with plastic tables and chairs on the side of the road, but it is amazingly good. I am truly impressed with this place.

After we finished our tour on Hon Tam island, we were starving and was looking for some bun rieu. There was a sign that said the place serves bun rieu, but when we arrived, we found out that they stopped serving bun at 11am and served oc instead. Too lazy to find another place, we decided to give it a try and needless to say, my mind is blown by how fresh and tasty this place was.

What made this place extra special is the grandma selling the drinks right next to the oc place. DO NOT order anything BUT the tra tac (kumquat tea)! It is the must have thing to get from her! Her tea is mind-blowingly good! There is something about the tea I just can't describe. Nothing like what you get at a place like Phuc Long or Starbucks. When asked, she simply said it was a family recipe. She put palm sugar, kumquat and passion fruit in the tea (maybe some illegal herbs or something too since it's so addictive). The cup is huuugggee and to top it off, it only costs 10kvnd (about 50 cents)! We gave her an extra tip because she was just so awesome! Super friendly and reminded me of my grandma. I'd give her a big fat kiss if it didn't freak her out.

Ok, back to the oc place . . . As I said, the snails here are extremely fresh. They open at 11am and close whenever they sell out or 6pm, whichever is sooner. You want to come early because they have a huge variety when it first opens but whittle down later in the day. Every type we tried was amazingly good. Even at 5pm the place was packed. Everything was good including the dipping sauce, the herbs and flavors they used and the service is top notch. Family owned and operated, you can hear them screaming at each other and then changing to their sweet tones when answering a customer. You don't have to know Vietnamese. Just point at a few things. You won't be disappointed with anything here. We had 6 dishes and drinks and the total came to 300kvnd (about 14usd) for a party of 3, eating like snobs. I am truly impressed by this place and will definitely go again before we leave Nha Trang. This restaurant made my day and I hope everyone gives it a try.

*Update - this place is so good we came back again a few days later to try out some more dishes. And as before, it was amazing. I ordered 2 kumquat teas this time. That thing is sooo good and only costs 10k (50 cents) each. We wentmuvh earlier this time at 11:30am and it's fairly packed...

Tiệm ốc khá hot trong khu vực đối với khách du lịch cũng như dân local. Mình đến trải nghiệm và bị mê ở đây luôn rồi. Về không khí: quán rất rất rất đông, mình đi tầm 3-4h chiều không phải giờ ăn mà đã full bàn rồi, chồng mình phải đứng canh, bàn trước vừa đi là phải nhảy vào ngồi liền. Khách ra vào liên tục, không gian khá hẹp nên bàn đặt cạnh sát nhau, và chật nhất là khu bày ốc cho khách order, gần như phải đứng lách người nhích từng chút (tưởng đâu đi concert không á😅) bàn ghế sạch sẽ, giỏ đựng vỏ ốc đều được bố trí đầy đủ và đều được làm sạch sau khi khách mới vào. Về dịch vụ: vì rất đông nên khu order không được take care tốt đâu, nhiều lúc mấy chị quá bận nên không phản hồi kịp câu hỏi của khách, chứ không phải chảnh hay gì. Nếu ai ăn quen r thì order khá dễ. Mình vào xin giấy bút hoặc tự lấy, ngta có để sẵn ở đó. Sẽ không có nhân viên order, ai biết tên từng loại ốc là 1 lợi thế, chứ không sẽ phải đi hỏi cô bán rất phiền. Mọi người chọn ốc rồi có một cái bảng menu dán trên tường có các cách chế biến, muốn ăn ốc gì, chế biến ra sao thì chỉ cần viết ra giấy, sau đó cầm giấy ra bàn mình ngồi, rồi đưa giấy đó cho các nhân viên xung quanh, nhân viên chạy bàn rất đông nên họ khá nhiệt tình và take care khách rất tốt, mình đánh giá cao điều này. Về đồ ăn: hải sản thật sự rất tươi, tươi theo kiểu mềm dai mọng nước luôn á, nêm nếm vừa phải, rau ăn kèm sạch sẽ, nước chấm cũng được nhưng mình thường ăn hải sản không cần chấm nên mình cũng không quan trọng nước chấm là mấy. Tổng quan: giá cả hợp lý, quán sạch sẽ, không khí ồn ào do đông khách và không gian nhỏ, quan trọng là hải sản tươi ngon chất lượng 1000 điểm.
