Read moreFor foreign visitors: Here’s how ordering works at this seafood restaurant.
First, head to the ground floor, where you’ll find tanks of live seafood. You choose the types you want and tell the staff how much of each - usually a few hundred grams or by whole item. They’ll catch the seafood from the tanks and weigh it. You can see the price per kilogram for each item, so after they weigh it, you can easily calculate how much your dish will cost.
Then, you’ll be asked how you’d like each item prepared: grilled, steamed, hotpot, etc. If you choose grilling, you can pick flavors like chili salt, garlic, garlic butter, tamarind sauce, or scallion oil.
Once you’ve made your selections, they’ll give you a note with your order—take it and choose a table. The second or third floor has a nicer breeze and ocean view. You can also sit at tables set directly on the beach, which is beautiful but can be quite windy.
There’s also a separate menu for things like rice, noodles, and hotpot dishes.
The seafood here is fresh daily, so sizes can vary depending on the catch. I really enjoyed the grilled tiger prawns with chili salt. The mantis shrimp I had that day was on the smaller side, and the grilled fish also wasn’t as flavorful.
Overall, you’ll know it’s a great place when you see that most of the customers are locals—always a good sign for quality and...
Read moreI can only give 2 stars because this is by far the dirtiest restaurant I've been to, in terms of the environment. Their staff barely wipe away the leftover shells and bones from the table when customers leave but wouldn't care to clean the floor unless the next consumer insists (and you can only insist on this if you speak the language). Our little table was still oily and damp when I sat down on the kiddie chair, and I was stepping on leftover shells from previous guests throughout our dinner.
People do smoke there, but with all the strong fans going (no air conditioning) it was bearable.
Food was fresh, seemed clean and well prepared, and pricing was honest as far as I can tell. But since we arrived at around 8pm (late) the seafood selection was quite limited.
Service staff don't care about food safety from what I could see. The ice bucket was put next to the garbage basket. Our unused cup of ice was bright to another guest for consumption.
The weirdest thing of the evening was the many hawkers inside the restaurant trying to sell us things like wet wipes, fruits and candies, and the candyman was singing while selling!
I guess you can go try the seafood and experience the atmosphere, but please do also expect an unsanitary...
