Ninh Loan Rose Restaurant — Restaurant in Ninh Bình Province

We had lunch at this restaurant on 25 April 2023. We were the only customer when we arrived at around 1pm.

We ordered a fried spring rolls with vegetables (35k), a chicken pho (40k) and a fried chicken with honey and rice (90k).

The spring rolls were served first, around 10-15 minutes after we placed our order. The dish was well done. Crispy skin, tasty filling and not too oily. Our mains came around 10 minutes later. I was surprised by the fried chicken with honey and rice. The serving was large, with 3 slabs of chicken breast. The taste however, was average at most. The chicken were mildly seasoned before it was pan fried, and then coated with honey. The breasts were not sliced/cut, and it becomes tiring/hard when we started to eat the thicker parts of the meat. The sauce resembles a mixture of honey and oil, and it is neither sweet nor savoury. Perhaps my expectation of the food was too high after the spring rolls.

I have some reservations about recommending this restaurant. But I think it is still worth visiting as there are other dishes that...

I went to this Ninh Loan lunch and dinner for the 3 days I was here. For the solo traveller this was just the right sized restaurant run by a mum and dad couple. It’s quite, the wifi is super fast and free and the prices are very very good. I chose this restaurant for the vegetarian options as I was abit grossed out by the whole bbq goats on display else where. But having tried the beef pho, fried tofu, stir fry bok Chou, hot lemon tea (sore throat) and a fried rice takeaway ( all for myself) I think I’ve left an impression with the owners. Having ordered the same set 6 times in a row. Highly recommended for not giving me any stomach problems at all and for the free pineapple they give at the end of your meal. If the cats put you off you neednt’t worry. The produce is always fresh. Anyways off to Da Nang so will have to love them and leave them. I tried a dish here that changed my life. I have been in Vietnam for several weeks and I was a bit disappointed with food, since I don't like much food floating in liquids. Here I saw on the menu something that caught my attention: the stuffed tofu with meat and rice (đậu phụ nhồi thịt và cơm).

It has become one of my favorite dishes in the whole world. It is amazing, and a big portion for only 60000 VND. The guy that works there is also super friendly, he is so nice I wanted to hug him.
