We went there as the review rate was super high, so we felt safe to eat. But there is another "family restaurant" just before this place so you might end up in the wrong one. We just checked the floor tiles to find it. It's one of the cleanest restaurants we have eaten in Vietnam with amazing service and really helpful owner which speaks good English and French. She was so cute that she also arranged our taxi back to our hotel. She is really there to help with her experience in the area so ask her anything you might need! I went for the grilled duck but they offer grilled meat after 18.00 so I had the grilled goat with sauce and rice and my partner had steamed tofu with mushrooms that I wouldn't recommend if you are not used to Asian mushrooms or the feeling of the steamed tofu. Also the thickener of the sauce was made with starch which was leaving an unpleasant after taste in the mouth so she ordered also a fried chilli tofu which was much better. My goat meat wasn't really tender but I think it happens a lot when you eat fresh meat, but the sauce is really tastefull. It was a nice gesture that they offered us a dessert at the end.

The best food we had in all of Vietnam! We spent 3 nights in Tam Coc and went there for dinner every single night, because the food tasted so good, and the family running it were so nice and welcoming. Over our 3 dinners, we had the duck (spit roasted - highly recommend, it's the most famous dish of the restaurant), the goat, the chicken, the spring rolls, the beef noodles, and their sautéed spinach (this one was the constant we had every single night - simple and easy, yet so tasty and healthy!), so a broad range of their products, and we were not disappointed even a single time! Everything was cooked to perfection, and rice (with meat/fish dishes) and dessert (fruits) is always included. They speak French and English. We spent 3 weeks in Vietnam eating out in the street and restaurants all the time, and this one surpassed everything else, by far! It's also super affordable, we paid around 250.000 VND for 2 people each night with 2 main meat dishes, rice, spinach, dessert and a beer each. Thank you Family Restaurant, I hope to be back some day <3

We ate here three times during our 3-night stay in Tam Coc. The roasted duck is freshly cooked outside the restaurant every evening starting at 6pm and the smells drew us inside. This is easily the best duck we’ve had in Vietnam. 155k VND for half a fresh roasted duck with crispy skin is a fraction of what it would cost back home. The order comes with half a duck and a bowl of rice, which is plenty of meat for 2-4 people, especially alongside other dishes. Their in-house sweet soya sauce for dipping is also great. Both nights, we paired the duck with the papaya salad which is light and flavourful. We also came around lunch one day for a snack of fried spring rolls and morning glory (spinach) vegetables. Despite being a large restaurant, this is a very welcoming family-run operation. The servers are friendly and service is quick in the evenings even when they get busier. Would highly recommend coming in to try the roasted duck when it’s fresh!

I came by for dinner at 7pm and this place was so busy. The roasting of the duck outside was what caught my attention. I definitely had to get a roasted duck (155K) which so many of the diners were having. The roast duck was well seasoned. I also got a vegetable and meat soup, canh cai nau thit (55k) which was hilariously translated as a "landscape of cooking meat". This was pretty hearty, and got my fair share of greens for the day. I also got a stir fried mixed vegetables (45k) had beansprouts, bok choy, onions and carrots. When ordering here, there's a note in the front of the menu that rice and desserts are offered for free. The dessert in the form of a pineapple wedge was served halfway through the meal which was strange. But I don't blame them. Throughout dinner, they seemed to be operating at full house. If you're looking for the Wifi password, look no further than the chopstick covers.

We went to this restaurant for dinner at around 7pm. Compared to the other restaurants along the road, the place was almost completely full. We ordered the roasted duck (155k) which they were roasting in front of the shop, a stir fried mixed vegetables (45k) and a “landscape of cooking meat”, a sweet cabbage/chye sim soup (45k). Rice and dessert were complimentary. The vegetables and soup came within 15 minutes. The plate of complimentary rice was enough to feed 2 pax. The dishes were standard South East Asian dishes and were good for us. The roasted duck came around 30 minutes later. The duck was nicely seasoned and roasted and it’s perfect with the sauce they provide. But it might be slightly tedious and even messy if you are not as skilful with deboning the duck like us. Highly recommended and definitely worth the wait. Do try it out if you are in the area!

Wow. Well I’ll be. I arrived at Tam Coc yesterday and after a measly dinner at my hotel my outlook on life was getting bleak. However, in my sorrow I gathered intel from the locals and was directed to this place. Family Restaurant. What can I say about this pillar of Vietnamese cuisine. I entered a stranger, but the staff welcomed me like a cousin, this was perfect as it would be weird if they treated me like a brother. With craft beers for 7k I knew I was in the right place. The food was heavenly, I thought I would wake up from a dream with how sensational the delicacies felt on my tongue. I would be warned to try the roasted duck. After tasting it, I knew my life would never be the same. A piece of me will be left here at Family Restaurant. Until I return to this sacred land, I will dream of tasting this feast again.
