I love the variety of shellfish available in Phu Quoc restaurants. Had a really good lunch of pen shell, squid, mantis shrimp, sea urchin and another type of clam that looks kind of like small version of geoduck (top right of the menu). Everything was really good with the highlight of the meal being mantis shrimp (second from the left top of the menu).
Grilled sea urchin was a bit new for me, I still prefer raw, I think they'll serve it raw here but I just went with the default option. Note: they put peanuts on pretty much all clams, not sure why but keep in mind in case you have allergies.
Orders can be placed by weight for most items. They will tell you the per kilo price and available options, i.e. 200g, 300g, 500g, etc. and ask how you like it cooked. Some items are sold per piece. In my case sea urchin and pen shell clams.
To find this place walk up the pier passing most of the restaurants and this will be the last one on the right from the set of restaurants on the pier (the one I'm writing this review on is accurate though there is another one on the left side with the same name here on google, there is another restaurant there but I think this is a mistaken duplicate entry here on google for the same Tinh Bien). Keep in mind the pier continues and there might be another restaurant at the very end of the pier but I didn't go past this restaurant.
Everything pictured in this review plus a can of 7-up came to 360000VND (a little...
Read moreThis place was the best places I’ve eaten in Phu Quoc. Don’t let the how the place looks at first glance deter you. You get to sit at a small patio with a nice view and cooling breeze.
The food was amazing. All the fish was very fresh and cooked to perfection. Sometimes it may be on the rare side, but I’d assume that’s how the cuisine would be in a culture that is very rooted in fishing and seafood.
We had a lot of food including other shrimps, clams, fish but I wasn’t able to take any photos purely because of how much I was distracted by eating because the food was that good. I would most definitely recommend the blue swimmer crab if you’re looking for a safe option that also tastes amazing because they use fresh black peppers from the farms nearby.
My favourite dish had to be the ốc hương, as it was cooked very uniquely; salted egg yolk sauce. It was creamy and complimented the snails well. Snails aren’t for everyone though, but if you’re adventurous and don’t mind a savoury dish on the sweeter side, give...
Read moreFresh and tasty seafood! You can select the seafood you want and they will catch and scoop it for you. Definitely more expensive than similar but smaller seafood restaurants in the downtown Phu Quoc area near the Night Market. The lady in the front can be quite pushy and may give you more seafood than you want for each type, leading to a bigger bill. Before you can argue or decide what to take off, they’ll cook it so you’ll have to pay for what’s being cooked. Make sure to double check what you want and how much you want before they...
