Went out for dinner tonight at Mukwa for the first time. Terrible first experience. Ordered one of the paneer specialities(I think it was P11) and another paneer dish(P6). P6 was quite good (not great) but P11 was atrocious and the paneer had this slimy coating over it. Not sure if they tried to crumb it and cook it in a curry gravy? Anyway, the taste as well as texture was terrible. Ordered a slice of carrot cake for takeaway. We specifically asked which cake was baked today, and were told it’s all freshly baked. Brought the cake home and opened it & it was mouldy. I’m completely disgusted and disappointed. It makes me wonder about the quality of the rest of the food they serve.
Waiter was really friendly, however, service was very slow. It was not the fault of the staff. There’s only 3/4 waiters for all the tables they were probably overwhelmed.
Update: phoned in to complain to the restaurant and they provided us with a full refund, to their credit, HOWEVER, the MANAGER had the absolute audacity to request for the bad review to be removed. We refused. Transparency is important & potential customers should walk into any establishment being informed about what they should look out for. Extremely disappointed at the unethical conduct of...
Read moreMukwa Lodge was one of the best experience I have had traveling the world. ||Firstly, the architecture & the property are a paradise right by the Zambezi river. Each room, the restaurant, the relaxing areas are designed with luxury and comfort in kind. ||Secondly, the food was exceptional. They have 4 chefs on property mixing different cuisines - the stay also includes breakfast and dinners on river cruises where you can enjoy either sunrise or sunset. ||Thirdly, what made my experience really unique was the staff. The owners were there and cared about every detail - all staff members become part of the family in 2 days. ||Last but not list, the owners give back to the local community on so many ways. They employee local staff, support multiple local charities & have used sustainable methods to build and maintain the lodge. ||By far of my top experiences to date (and I have been on over 30 trips!!!). Congrats team Mukwa. I will be back for...
Read moreI am staying at Mukwa lodge because it is almost in the CBD and close to my offices. I think that the biggest frustration with Mukwa is the service in the restaurant. The waiters can leave you on your own and it is difficult to attract their attention. Breakfast is a slow start and by the time you finished your meal there are still dishes to be prepared for the serve point. I gave up to try and order eggs from the kitchen and eat a toast and cheese with some bacon, as the waiters are just not available. They placed a fancy coffee machine which worker for a moth and now it is just a white elephant. The cups provided are too small for the size of coffee that the machine pumps out and then it spills over. On my last 2 visits I had in both rooms that the aircon cannot heat the room and most of the plugs not working. Pity if the service is not to standard and I hope that it will improve. A good 5 out of 10 place...
