Reading reviews and now after I visited 'Piatto', I felt like I was in a different restaurant. I went there on Sunday before noon, and the place was deserted. There was just one customer inside. We didn't want to sit inside because the space smelled like an old tobacco room, where the smoke goes into walls after an extended period, so we decided to go to the outdoor area. There were a couple of tables not cleaned after previous customers. The waitress wanted to take us back to the almost enclosed area next to the bar because (she said) of the dust from the parking. We declined because that area looked like the corner of some dodgy place, not a place where you want to sit, relax and eat 'fresh oysters'. And again, this is what I dislike in most restaurants in Lusaka that are set in shopping malls. You usually watch at parking, having a view of cement and steel, a real party breaker feel. Nevertheless, because many reviewers said this is the place for seafood, for a starter, we ordered prawn soup, grilled halloumi and mini mezze. No matter that 'Piatto' was literate empty, we waited more than half of hour (40min) for a starter. The soup was, by the way, not ... pleasant - it tasted not fresh at all, with a lot of flour, pepper and just a few small pieces of prawns. Grilled halloumi was average, and actually, the best dish of the day was mini mezze. Because of the soup, relatively long period of waiting and uncleaned tables, we decided not to take any oysters and seafood or main meal no matter that we came to this restaurant because of it. We ordered a small salad that was surprisingly big and quite tasty & the beef roll, but it was something to forget, with a tick piece of not-the-freshest bread. In the end, I don't think I will come here again soon, firstly because it's in the makeni area (not close to where I'm staying) and 'cos of mixed feelings...
Read moreThe fine dinning experience is amazing! Went to this place after having had a difficult time looking for a fine dinning restaurant in Lusaka which doesn’t have loud music and people getting drunk. I called to make a reservation and the staff new exactly what I was looking for! Arrived there and the staff were even more friendly in person. The environment is great and the food is even better. Most of all, unlike many other eating places in Lusaka which mostly have a party atmosphere and lots of alcohol, this place offers an actual fine dining experience. Ideal for romantic dinner dates which you can be all dressed up for, cooperate dinners and also just good hangouts with friends. I would definitely recommend over...
Read moreThe food was good. Ordered some takeaway prawns which I enjoyed. I was enticed to visit the place from the reviews on maps. It has a quiet and isolated atmosphere for those like me that love such places. Especially during the weekdays.
The decor was good to me. I understand the aesthetics they were going for, it's different from most restaurants. Unique.
Although, I suggest that they dust the place alittle more even when it only has a few customers. Almost everything was dusty! Starting from the fish tank at the entrance to the seats and the centre piece. I could hardly find a place to sit and wait for my food because the linen and seats were dented with dirt...
