Steers — Restaurant in Lusaka Province

Steers Kabulonga has been around for a very long time. Granted, it has gone through a number of makeovers over the years and has moved a bit but it is much older than you would think upon seeing it. Granted its location now at Kabulonga Centro Mall is new, I still remember it from my childhood when it was across the street and I couldn’t afford their food.

Now, I am an adult and their food is quite affordable (I changed, not them). And this is important because they are not that expensive compared to their competitors. Good quality burgers, though I want to sample their other food.

Of course, their move to the mall was necessary as there is more parking space here than where they were. Smaller shop though but I think they have a partnership with Debonairs Pizza which is just next to them. They even play the same adds over their speakers.

Recently ordered a simple chicken and chips, it was not busy and was told 15minutes. When I returned I was told another 15 minutes! Unhappy and with other programs I asked for my refund. The attempt to continue to cook my delayed order is what has forced me to write a review. I was very disappointed with the unprofessional tactics...whether the staff get in trouble for a refund or that they don't have authority to action one I don't know!? To hear the manager doesn't work weekends is shocking! They clearly had a lot of online orders...the franchisee owner should sort out his/her Customer service, not because the workers were rude but they clearly FEARED the backlash on them. Pathetic approach considering the food does its job...and finally chips portions...what is it with small portions of chips?!?! The cost is in the meat but that's big enough and then you diner with ka chips!!

I hardly ever write reviews and hardly ever bad reviews, but this one gets a zero. I popped in for a quick bite to eat. On their fancy ordering machine was a special for a cheese burger, fries and a Pepsi for k105. There was another similar special but with a juice for a couple of bucks more. Needless to say, the machine did not work and I had to order from the counter (no problem). I wanted to order what was advertised, but then the total did not make sense. I showed them what was advertised on the ordering screen and they told me that it was a promotion and that the promotion was not running anymore, oh yes, and the machine is not working... I cancelled the order and went somewhere else. I would have still paid the extra for the order, but the staff was not very mindful to a customer experience and I got the feeling that they were not well trained. Won't see me soon again... That for a well...
