The modern Cathedral, from 1926, is based on the original church built in 1826 and replaces the former parish church which was demolished in c. 1820. My visit was in connection with the bells and the Cathedral possesses âa fine ring of ten bellsâ which was cast in 1949 by J. Taylor & Co. of Loughborough. The ring is in the key of D with the heaviest bell, the tenth, weighing just over 25 cwt (almost 1.3 tonnes). The bells are rung for practice on Thursday evening from 7.30 p.m. until 9 p.m. There is service ringing on Sunday morning from 9.50 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. for the Cathedal Eucharist. Occasionally, there are quarter peals rung from 2.45 p.m. to 4 p.m. before Evensong. Visitors, both ringers and non ringers, are always welcome to join the local band.

Went here last week to watch Hans Zimmer orchestra play live. A great night and experience. A beautiful cathedral, which is also being used to hold events, concerts, exhibitions and conferences. A fabulous idea if we are to continue with the use of such buildings in future generations. This cathedral is very well maintained and architecturally beautiful and elegant. Such a pity I didn't see a donation box, as I would have happily contributed some funds towards the upkeep. This is one of England's newest cathedrals , but yet one of the country's oldest places for Christian worship. There is a cafe and on the night of the event there was a bar selling alcohol too. The venue is available for hire, a place I would definitely recommend.

After several attempts to get here, I finally made it and am so pleased I did . I loved the building and it's stations of the cross must be one of a kind .the staff were very welcoming and busy There was a special concert on the day I arrived by local school children . They sounded very good I am sure their performance was a great success . Probably a lesser well known Cathedral but none the less spectacular in my opinion .I visit a lot of these places of worship and each and everyone has something very special to offer .

Quite a surprise with a bright, modern Georgian building built on a site of Christian worship allegedly since the 500s. There was much work rededicated in 1965 and a beautiful annex and conference complex added in 2001. Very much a working place of worship, it was striking in both its modernity, art and features. The âcrown of thornsâ above the altar and the very modern organ in particular.

Went to Blackburn Cathedral to the moon sphere exhibit. It was an enjoyable event seeing the moons landscape up close. This is a travelling exhibit that is going around the world. Blackburn Cathedral was a perfect venue to host the event. The cathedral is one of Blackburn's jewels. It's worth a visit anytime.

Absolutely marvelous cathedral. Beautiful stained glass windows on a sunny day. Stumbled across this cathedral really, quite a pleasant surprise. Liked it more than Manchester, not that it's a competition, I just find Manchester cathedral a bit gloomy by comparison. Take a peek you won't be disappointed.
