Vasili's Taverna — Attraction in Adelaide

Was a bit of a shock to walk in and see such a run down and poorly setup shop. Hot chips were nice but that was where it ended. Being this place is all about the meat, I’m unsure why this place rates so highly in google. Prices are relatively high, and quality is relatively low. Meat was fatty/gristly and lacked that caramelisation you’d expect of a meat done over coals. I used to think google maps ratings were a fairly reliable way of finding good food but unfortunately places like this show that is not the case. Best yiros and proper Greek food in Adelaide. Top stuff... Just to add to this review..I had the first few bites of my lamb yiros and it was teasing me to delve in deeper! It wasn't until I was a third into it that my eyes started rolling around in my head in euphoric delight !..Got to the half way point and thought I was an ancient Trojan soldier eating the fruit from Zeus himself! Yiros are known for their meaty goodness and you can tell a lot about an establishment based on the quality of the meat. That being said, Vasili's is pretty amazing!

The chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy as heck! The lamb wasn't gamey and had a perfect amount of char that added a distinct and light smokiness to every bite. There was a decent level of fattiness to the lamb and pork that kept the meat juicy and tender. Although light, everything was well seasoned and nothing overpowered the other allowing each element to shine individually or complement one another...
