First time customer. We ordered dinner delivered from the Port Admiral Hotel restaurant recently and it was absolutely delicious, mouthwatering and beautifully cooked and presentation. We ordered: Wood Grilled Portuguese Chicken with Scorched corn, chilli, green leaves, pickled red onions, porto dressing, creamy potato salad (gf). Crinkle Cut Chips (VO / GF) Environmentally friendly takeaway packaging. The Wood Grilled Portuguese Chicken was juicy and tender, and the salads were beautifully made. I especially loved the potato salad and how perfectly soft cooked the potatoes were. I often avoid potato salad from restaurants and takeaway stores because majority of places don’t cook the potatoes properly and they’re often undercooked…. Well, the chef/cook who is at the Port Admiral restaurant is an excellent chef/cook. Everything about the food we had was exceptional. Perfect balance of flavours & seasoning. Top quality! Unfortunately they don’t currently offer their restaurant menu desserts on their MenuLog app delivery menu. Hopefully management or the kitchen will consider adding this to the menu soon. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning customers!

Port Admiral has recently reopened and have new management. A completely gluten-free menu with plenty of DFO and Vegan options. New beers on tap and spirits so there's something new for everyone to try, along with a couple of classics (Cooper's, west end, etc). I ordered a mushroom burger - plenty of roast veggies and tasted stunning. They did forget the cheese which was a little disappointing, but I'll mark it down to teething issues. Bun was soft, tasty, and fluffy. - $24 Arancini balls were crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. Can't go wrong! - $18 Parmi was a little small for pricing but I understand that it's also a specialist crumb. The chicken was thick and moist, and the cheese melted perfectly but I found the tomato sauce was sweet to taste (maybe a lot of tomato paste?)- $27 Chips were a definite favourite of mine and reminded me of a classic fish & chip store. The service was impeccable and everyone was absolutely lovely! Looking forward to see what they do next and how they will navigate the Port Adelaide market!

PORT ADMIRAL HOTEL My wife and I have been wanting to check this place out since it reopened. Heard really great things and was hoping it would deliver, and that it did I reserved a table “this morning” on their online booking system. Made a custom request to be positioned in the sun. They called me shortly after to confirm my booking ✅. We arrived on time and noticed a card on a table with my name and the umbrella down, had to be for me 🌞. We went halves in the beef schnitzel with a side of leafy greens with sauce and dressing on the side with an extra plate ✅. Drink of choice was of course the port local brewed by locals 🏴‍☠️ pirate life 🏴‍☠️. The staff were amazing, food was delicious and quick, plates and cutlery were spotless and the vibe was there. Upstairs they have balcony seating and a pool room with its own bar ( free pool Sunday 1400-1800 ) we are keen to get some friends and experience this Sunday session. Outside is a beer garden which also looked very inviting. Overall first experience was definitely a positive one ✅

3/8/25: Earlier in the year we decided to return to this establishment. We found the food to be pleasing and tasty. This evening we dined here for dinner. The staff were very pleasant and the service was prompt. However, we were totally disappointed with both of our meals. The redfin fish of the day was coated far too thickly with crumbs. The crumbs were overcooked and in places too hard to cut into, let alone bite into. The fish flesh was bland and extremely greasy. The crumbed prawn meal was cooked satisfactorily, but was bland and tasteless and only comprised of seven prawns. On the plus side, the redfin meal was served with fresh salad and with both meals the chips were cooked to a good standard.

26/6/23: Four of us dined here today for lunch. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great food; extremely tasty. Great service. Our meals met to a high standard the individual dietary requirements of the four people in our party: being gluten free, dairy free, egg free, vegetarian. We will be returning. 13/8/23: We visited today for lunch, with friends. Unfortunately the food was not up to the high standard which we had encountered on our last visit. The main course salad was brought out with the entree. The whitebait meal lacked presentation and was bland in flavour. The chicken meat in the Southern fried chicken burger meal was overcooked and dry; the bread roll was burnt. The crumbed prawns were overcooked. The squid rings were overcooked. The crumbed whiting was extremely greasy. The chips were greasy and overcooked. Furthermore, when we queried if two of the meals served to our table were infact dairy free, as ordered, the reply was "I think they are". We had to insist on the dairy free requirement being checked with the kitchen staff. Disappointingly, we consider value for money was not provided...

was told i was being rude for asking for a refund on an incorrect meal. kinda ruined my day. food was ok. won't be returning.

I'm not exactly a strident or even confident person. I don't get out much, to be clear. But when my sister asked if I could return her meal for her, because it was not what she had ordered, I agreed.

I presented the meal to staff down-stairs and calmly asked for a refund (after waiting for them to finish talking). The staff member asked what was wrong with the meal and I explained. The staff member disputed that there was anything wrong with the meal (as another member of staff had when my sister had pointed out the issue when presented with a meal that wasn't what she had ordered). And, she added.."Well, you're bein' kinda rude".

I'm really not the kind of person to leave a negative review.. but this was an incredibly ridiculous situation. The staff member explained that someone should have told us there had been a change of menu. I get that. Things happen, it really doesn't matter. I wouldn't have cared if it had been burnt beyond recognition. It wasn't even my food. I wasn't invested enough to be angry or rude. It's not who I am.. like.. at all.

It uh.. it cut pretty deep. I was flabbergasted. I just repeated the issue and was told that the refund had to be in cash and couldn't be on card (which.. I'm not even sure if that's allowed under Australian Consumer Law.. but whatever).

I spent the rest of the family event I was attending confused and hurt.. as I said, it ruined my day and I don't see myself attending this venue again.

Watch for: soggy eggplant, incorrect orders, and...

Horrible food and some of the staff including the manager!!

Firstly, attending a 70th, who had originally booked upstairs only to be told that they are now outside the front of the pub in the seated street area and totally freezing especially for the elderly guests.

Secondly, my husband ordered a medium steak and came out cut up and extremely over cooked. Not even able to chew through it. Returned the steak and ordered a cheeseburger for him. He couldn’t eat this either as not only was the burger bun burnt but the taste of the burger was horrific. When my husband returned the burger to the staff and told them it was rubbish, he was branded frightening and rude by the manager!!! He also spoke to the chef about it as well and eventually got a refund.

Fast forward, 1.5hrs and during the speeches my husband had his drink split by another guest so went to get another and was told he was cut off and wouldn’t be served again. He was told he was drunk despite only having had a couple of drinks and was definitely no way near drunk.

Even though multiple guests corrected the manager to explain it actually wasn’t him that spilt the drink, the response was he is rude and he’s cut off.

Absolutely appalling service. We were out for a friends 70th with our young children and were no way drunk nor rude to staff during the night.

This manager needs to get over his own ego and listen to customers instead of kicking off for no reason at all. Very...
