We took my 2 yr old grandson and 8 mth old granddaughter to Wacky Warehouse today. The day started great with both children enjoying their time there, most older children especially the girls like to help and mother the young ones which is rather cute. Unfortunately our enjoyment came to an abrupt holt when my grandson who was playing in the ballpit was picked on by a much older boy who used a large ball to constantly hit him so he couldn't get away. This all happened in the space of a minute as my daughter who was holding the baby and watching him brought the baby over to me so she could get my grandson out as we were about to get ready to leave. As she quickly pulled my grandson out another of the 3 older boys said "He was hurting him". " I know" replied my daughter and walked away to comfort her son. A few minutes later the mother of the first boy came to our table leaned over my daughter and said " Did you swear at my son". Stunned, my daughter explained what had happened and what was said then went back to comforting her son but that mother wouldn't let up or go away. Screaming at us she told us that under 3's are only allowed in the baby section and my grandson shouldn't have been in the ballpit. Apparently, she didn't care that her son hurt a small child and her anger escalated going over the top and out of control. None of the staff came over to see what she was yelling about or give assistance. We were left to deal with their volatile customer ourselves so rather than expose our children to that behaviour we left. I have to admit, to go through life with that much anger and aggression would be horrible. Not to mention that she is teaching her son to behave the same as he sat there repeating what she said with a smug look on his face. A sad sad family, I have only pity for them. I would hope that in future the staff be more responsible for their customers. None of the families and children should have been exposed to that...
Read moreI am so impressed! We drove all the way down from the Adelaide Hills to try another play cafe and it was well worth the drive! We spent a few hours here and the kids were entertained the entire time! It was a cheaper-than-some entry cost which was already a plus. I LOVED that the dining area was like this foam vinyl stuff which felt so much cleaner than the other play cafes that have carpet. The chairs were super comfortable as well! It's very aesthetically appealing for sure! The playground itself is AMAZING! 3 massive levels of obstacles! The entire bottom floor is a ball pit, which was so fun just in itself to navigate through the thousands of balls! There's a smaller area for under 3's, but my 1 year old wanted to spend the whole time on the big playground the whole time. We used foam blocks for him to add an extra step to help him get up the levels. There's even swings! I am always apprehensive about buying food at play cafes because it tends to be expensive and not very appealing or very big. We just got a fruit plate for the kids and a coffee. I must say I was pleasantly surprised! The fruit plate had a great variety on it and it was plenty for my kids afternoon tea too! My husband said his coffee was "pretty good actually" which is a good sign because he's a coffee snob haha. The staff were super friendly. My ONLY 'criticism' is the music is literally the same elevator music on repeat, there's only 1 toilet for men and 1 for female (not a problem, just something to be aware of. There is a changing mat) and there's a little arcade section which I find a bit over stimulating and a bit much. Overall I'm just so impressed! Will definitely be making the trip back down...
Read moreIt was ok. Have had a couple of bad experiences that never felt resolved. Like today I took my nephew and he wanted to play with these two older kids( 8 and 10 sister and brother), but they didn't want to play with him so they made a game out of pretending he was infected or something. Now that in its self was mean, but then they would sit on the slides prevent anyone from going down them. What drew the line was when the 8 year old started hitting my 2 year old nephew in the face. I saw him doing it while my nephew backed away in fear. I got straight up to stop it but by then the two kid ran off to their mum. I told their mum in a polite way what happened but all she did was say I didn't actually see anything because her son said he didn't do anything( cause kids don't lie). My Nephew even had red marks all over his face, but she said that didn't prove anything. I told the staff about the issue and they didn't care. They just said to keep my nephew separated from them. I tried to keep him away, but that's very hard when they decide to play in the strictly 2-3 year old section( they're 8 and 10). Then they took back their position blocking the slide that my nephew adores. I ended up leaving because I felt it wasn't a safe environment for younger kids. I don't know what I was expecting from staff, but I would at least expect them to warn them not to go in the age restricted play pin and not to just sit on the slide so no one can go down. Sorry to say but...
