Will never return. Went for breakfast (3 people). I ordered a latte, cappuccino and long black. First red flag was they made a flat white instead of a cappuccino. Then went to order food, should’ve known there would be an issue as they wrote down my order on ripped pieces of paper. Asked for a croissant with jam and butter and got no butter. Smoothie didn’t turn up so went to talk to the girl who served me, she said I’ll look into it. Still nothing 10 mins later so went up a second time and was told the same thing. 15 mins later still no smoothie so I went up and asked for a refund - to say the server looked like he couldn’t care less was an understatement and just said okay here’s your money. And to top it off, no goodbye or thank you from the owner as we left (we walked right past them).
Updated since owner response: the owner has lied and said that I only made staff aware when I asked for the refund. Stop lying to me and your customers. Seeing as how you are known to check CCTV footage when responding to reviews, go back and look at the footage and you will see me come to the counter twice. Take the review on the chin, listen to the feedback and see it as room for...
Read moreWent to Clay & Co. for the first time on the Labour Day holiday, for breakfast. It was pretty quiet, and service was quick and friendly. The outdoor areas are quite pleasant with music, pot plants and a mix of sunny and shady spots. Overall though, it was a disappointing visit. First the good - the sourdough is nice quality, my hash brown was hot and crispy, and my coffee was decent, although a bit on the weak side. Unfortunately my meal was ruined by the poached eggs being cold. I don't just mean they had cooled down after cooking - they were cold, all the way through. The whites were also undercooked, which is forgivable with hot eggs, but really off putting when they are cold (again, not a hint of warmth). I had asked for my chutney on the side, but didn't get it at all, and my partner's coffee was noticeably weaker than mine (in colour and flavour). One extra gripe - I don't have an issue with paying a public holiday surcharge...however, when you have a separate menu titled 'Public Holiday', why wouldn't you show the public holiday prices? So, in the end, we paid $68 for 2 meals and 2 coffees, half of which were...
Read moreFood shouldn’t be an ordeal of having to deal with the terrible attitude and underwhelming service of sub-20 year old staff who would prefer to be anywhere else but there. We get it this is just a layover on your way to achieving a meaningless degree.
I guess this is the reason people go to Maccas for breakfast.
My Omelette had shell in it and when my juices finally arrived they had the sit too long and split look of a dehydrated lips sitting in the sun.
The worst part was my kid had to wait until 15 minutes after our food had arrived for her waffle.
Only shining light was the one bloke on floor who was trying his hardest when surrounded by the incompetence of youth who don’t understand that this is how capitalism is.
The menu has that level of pretension for a cafe back in the 2010s when everything was more garnish than substance but none of the execution. It’s an omelette, I shouldn’t need a degree in botany to understand it or forestry experience in order to eat it.
How this place is even remotely associated with Ovo I will never understand. Second experience was worse...
