Overview We love the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre and visit regularly for shopping and various activities, including dining, meeting friends for coffee, medical appointments, haircuts, cinema outings, library visits etc. This vibrant shopping hub offers a wide range of amenities, with three supermarketsāWoolworths, Coles, and Aldiāas well as a well stocked Kmart, a Target, Priceline Pharmacy, two liquor outlets - BWS and Liquorland - and multiple banks. There are even two car dealerships where you can take a peek at the latest models. The atmosphere is lively and fun, with tons of natural light and greenery, making it a pleasant place to spend time. Staff at the information desk on level 2 are always friendly and helpful and there are plenty of clean and well provisioned toilets.
Dining Experience Our favorite spot is the level 3 food court, which has an extensive selection of casual and family dining and coffee options. Itās a great place to relax and catch up with friends or enjoy a meal on a Thursday evening.
Parking Despite our fondness for the shopping centre, the parking situation is a major drawback. The policy of offering only three hours of free parking is inadequate for those of us with multiple planned activities. Visits to the doctor, optometrist, hairdresser or travel agent often involve waiting in queues, which can consume much of that limited time. Moreover, the so-called "three free hours" can be misleading. On weekends, finding a parking space can take at least 15 minutes, followed by the challenge of maneuvering into the tiny, narrow bays. Exiting the car park often requires another 15 minutes to return to your vehicle and get through potential queues at the exits. Consequently, what initially seems like three hours of parking often translates to a maximum of 2.5 hours of actual shopping time. I frequently feel pressured to wrap things up after just two hours to avoid overstaying my welcome.
The situation has worsened due to the repair work that has rendered the main escalators inoperable since February 25. This necessitates more walking to reach alternate escalators located at the outer edges of the centre, further extending the time needed to complete errands and return to the car.
Impact on Spending It seems counterproductive for the management to enforce such short time limits which mean that customers often leave before completing all their errands. This policy probably results in lost revenue for retailers as shoppers rush out instead of enjoying meals or additional shopping after their tasks are done. As self-funded retirees facing rising living costs, every dollar counts; we are reluctant to incur unnecessary parking fees.
Current Scheme While there is a scheme that allows for extended parking if one spends at least $200 in the centre, this threshold feels excessively high, even in this climate of hyperinflation.
Suggestions for Improvement. To enhance the shopping experience, I recommend either extending the free parking allowance to four hours or implementing a system where customers can earn extra parking time based on their spending. For example:
Spend $50 for an additional 30 minutes Spend $100 for an additional hour Spend $150 for an additional 1.5 hours Spend $200 for unlimited all day free parking
Implementing such changes would improve customer satisfaction and encourage longer visits to this fantastic shopping...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHave been lucky enough to have visited this centre a number of times, which for myself takes around an hour to get there, dependant on traffic conditions. At this point, my favourite shopping centre/mall. Has great access from the Hwy or city, with multiple parking areas on most sides of the building and multiple levels. Parking is free for the first three hours and in very reasonable parking fee after this time. Should you be there all day, you can have your parking validated, therefore making it free parking, as long as you can produce receipts of certain amount (spend value can vary for this service, so best to check at the information desk) Information desk is located close to the center of the building on the 2nd level. The centre has four (4) levels all accessible via multiple elevators and or multiple escalators located regularly through out. The shopping here I personally find excellent, with a huge selection of quality stores ranging from pop-up shops to hair and nail salons, grocery stores (Aldi, Woolies and Coles), Kmart, JB HiFi, Surf and Skate stores to Mr Toys to name just a few. All stores are located inside the very well laid out centre, with easy access to and from all stores. Multiple public toilets are available and very clean. The centre also has a Cinema on the upper level. A large food court with great selection of foods to suit all are available and multiple coffee shops located regularly through the entire shopping centre. Oh on that, if you just fancy a tea/coffe and a snack, if you haven't tried them yet and you are able to, Brooklyn Coffee and Donut shop is located in the food court area and for me has the best donuts i've tasted hands down and at reasonable prices. A big surprise to me (not having had chance to visit this centre for quite a while) was the addition of an AutoMall. A fantastic idea that basically has a smart, shiny car dealership area. YES, this allows you to visit multiple car brand dealerships INSIDE the centre, superb idea in my opinion. Dealers include Fiat and Volskwagen to Alph Romeo and my personal favourite Jaguar/ Land Rover, brilliant. As mentioned previously, my favourite shopping centre and if you able to, i highly recommend a visit, you won't be...
