Lovely regional museum run by very friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. Wonderful array of evocative objects donated by Charters Towers local families ranging from late 19th century domestic, commercial and industrial contexts. Also features wartime memorabilia. Well worth a visit.

Very well presented local museum, well worth the time and modestly priced entries, a great walk through Charters Towers development and growth. Congratulations to all concerned in the operation.

Lots of local historical objects plus many other antiquities and curios. So many different things to admire and enjoy. You could quite easily get lost in this treasure trove for hours.

I spent an hour there and it wasn't nearly enough time to absorb all of the history and wonder in one building. The caretakers of the museum were wonderful to talk with and were very open when presented with up to date information on the pieces they had on display.

For a small town museum it is truly spectacular. I will have to return in the near future to spend more time perusing.

The admission fees are more than worth it and very reasonable indeed! Concession and pensioner...

Very detailed little museum with nooks and crannies you can get lost in and info printed everywhere. Great extensive war section that I spent at least an hour in. It will take more than 1 afternoon to see the whole museum properly and I couldn't finish it all in one afternoon, the lovely volunteers invited me back for free the next day to finish it. Alas, I overslept. It closes 1pm off-season and 2pm busy season. I intend to go back to finish my...

We spent 1.5 hours in here and need another 1.5 hours to even skim everything. It was so big and had something for everyone. For example the first wooden slot machines, a WW1 grenade thrower, map of all the gold mines in Charters Towers …… and much much more. I would recommend this museum for all families. The volunteer staff, especially Geoff, gave the place a life of its own. Well down National Trust and Charters Towers. We will...
