Ghost Tours Australia - Charters Towers — Attraction in Charters Towers City

We were glad we did the tour but perhaps not for the reasons expected. Looking at photos from past reviews, it looks as though there was more time spent in buildings and rooms. We accessed a hotel to the bottom of the haunted stairs, the amazing Stock Exchange and we did walk up onto the front veranda of the police station....fun in itself! What I enjoyed was an excuse to walk the streets on a beautiful night and just have the time and opportunity to really appreciate some phenomenally beautiful buildings. To have such amazing architecture and beauty in such a small area, in a country town is incredible. Our guide gave us interesting history, quirky and tragic stories and of course the locations of ghostly activity. The tour is described as two hours. We arrived at 6:45 for a 7:00 pm start and were finished by 8:30 pm. I regard this as a positive because I didn't know if I could manage a two hour walk but this was better. There are opportunities to sit on street seating while listening...

Tracey our ghost tour guide was an incredible good story teller. I did the town ghost tour and the cemetery ghost tour. I would have enjoyed more detailed and more stories on the town tour. It gave an overall background on the buildings and some characters that lived in Charters towers. It was interesting and informative. Without Tracey's incredible talent in making stories come to life and giving customers goosebumps during the stories it would not have been as entertaining. The town was a little to bright and it took a little away from the atmosphere, and the loud cars up and down main street also broke the spell at times. The town looked lovely in the evening and it was the perfect setting.

I did like the cemetery tour, it was lovely and dark, again Tracey was amazing in setting the atmosphere. I did the town tour one day earlier and the stories did overlap and some repeated. I think I would have enjoyed visiting first the cemetery tour. Overall I am glad I did both...

Amazing tour! Tracey’s local knowledge is unparalleled. She has a wonderful way of drawing her audience in and we felt like we were transported back to gold-rush era Charters Towers full of eccentric local characters and mythical tales of a by-gone time. Charters Towers is a remarkable historical town preserved to impeccable standards which is a credit to the town. Tracey and the tour were outstandingly organised with prompt easy booking and Tracey was ready and organised early to welcome us! 10/10...
