Salt Lane Cafe — Restaurant in Queensland

Just wanted to say a big thank you for the professionalism of all your staff today when I brought one of our trainee Assistance Dogs into the Cafe. It makes our life so much easier when the staff don't bat an eyelid and treat us equally. That was his second time out and it was a big deal for us; with a kid smacking his bum whilst standing in the queue and a toy Poodle snarling / lunging at him on his way in and out. This is exactly what we train them for but to have all of those challenges thrown at him on his second day and calmly continue to do his job, was nothing short of amazing. One very proud trainer here - and the milkshake...

We arrived well before closing time ( 1 hour) to have an ice coffee and pot of tea with full cream milk. The milk for the tea was not full cream, the tea bag was not in the tea pot when served. The ice coffee was good. Overall not the most welcoming service. Chairs were started to be put up on the table were we were going to sit ( in the window) reluctant the other table was cleared by ? daughter of the owner after she was asked by her ? mother. It was a pack up atmosphere. Swearing in the kitchen area, 2 young girls were pushing each other around behind the counter area. All in all unpleasant experience....

Had a lunch break there recently and ordered a burger and coffee to eat there. The very young girl who took my order was great, no fuss service but polite and friendly. The burger was worth the wait. A thick meat patti, bacon, fried egg, slice of pineapple, slice of beetroot and salad with bbq sauce in a fresh bun. Exactly what a burger should be. The coffee was served in a big cup, hot and delicious. If passing through or staying in Charters Towers go there for lunch or morning tea. They are open from 7 to 2 Mon to Sat and 7 Tull 1 on Sunday.
